Haslett to be HC with the Lions?

Anyone hear that Haz will be interviewed by the Lions?
If he does become HC there he will also have problems there too, what a mess in Detroit.

A day after being fired by the Saints, former coach Jim Haslett has scheduled an interview with the Detroit Lions for later this week, ESPN's Ed Werder reports.

The Lions have also contacted Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary about their vacant coaching job.

Asked if he thought he was ready to be an NFL head coach, Singletary said, "Absolutely.''

I guess the Lions are wanting to improve from pitiful to mediocre if they hire Haslett.

Let me see if I get this right....

Haslett is interviewing with a team with
a maddeningly inconsistent QB that the franchise has a LOT of money invested in but still can't count on.
1 premiere WR who has a personality conflict with another player
A RB with injury trouble
Another WR who hasn't lived up to his draft hype
Another WR who can't even break into the starting lineup
And a defense that can't stop anyone
And an entire team that under achieves and has no discipline

And how exactly is Haslett the answer to this situation???

This post should answer the question of those people who were screaming for Mooch to coach the Saints. If he can't get a team more than 5 or 6 wins that is almost a carbon-copy of the Saints, then what makes anyone think he can do it here? And, I don't want to hear about "we have better talent", because honestly we don't. Only at certain positions.

I CAN"T AGREE MORE... where is the talent. If you have talent you can win some games on talent alone. I didn't see any evidence this year where that happened.

MordorIV 01-04-2006 10:52 AM

agree.

The Jets are looking at Haslett, Herm Edwards is heading for Kansas City. The last thing Jim wants to do right now is work for Matt Millen in Detroit who is never wrong about anything, just ask him!! Mooch might fit in in NO/SA love to see the Honeymoon pictures of him and Benson under the umbrella!!

papz 01-04-2006 05:20 PM

Call me crazy but to tell you the truth, I think Haslett is going to be successful where ever he decides to coach next season.

spkb25 01-04-2006 05:23 PM

i guess millen really does want to get fired

MordorIV 01-04-2006 05:39 PM

Lions will suck even more

LongTimeFan 01-04-2006 06:29 PM

Actully I think Haz is a good coach that just lost respect from some of his players, but I don't think he would succeed in Detroit, no coach can be successful there with the Ford family as owners.
