Jimmy Smith and Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, report the New Orleans Saints have contacted Fresno State head coach Pat Hill about the Saints' vacant head coaching position. Hill's potential candidacy to fill the vacancy left by the firing of Jim Haslett brings the total acknowledged number to five. Hill told The Fresno Bee Saturday night, Jan. 8, that he has spoken with the Saints. "Yeah, I've talked to them," said Hill, who had eight recruits in Fresno Saturday. "I've been contacted by a lot of people, but I have nothing really going right now that's any big concern. It's just conversation." Previously, he worked in the NFL as an assistant for five years, initially under Bill Belichick with the Cleveland Browns, then later with the Baltimore Ravens, before joining Fresno State in 1996. His contract runs through the 2007 season with Fresno State.

ok... let me see... one thing... his teams always play good n then have a let down at the end of the year.... i really dont want to have a coach who cant get his team up after losing one big game... ie. the USC game.. they played great n that game n after they lost... their season just went to crap....

Too bad we're not interviewing Fassel....but I did see Maurice Carthon's name in a list somewhere. That made me a little happy, but we'll probably end up with Marty Moehrinwig, Dave Campo, or Dennis Erickson....yikes.

Fresno state maybe the answer to OC but not head coach. What about Iron mike? lol But i would like to see a monster of the midway walking our sidelines
