Mike Martz??

Mike Martz??????come on really guys....This is the guy who could not beat us on his best day when we were losing to the clevelands...cincinaties...

Mike Martz still believes you can pass pass pass to win championships....He does not understand the running game wins ball games. So if Martz comes here he will want to try and renew AB's career....

Bottom line NO Martz...not now not ever. We need Kubiak or Henderson and linehart.

RE: Mike Martz??

Well we're not doing the hiring but I agree, Martz hasn't been wonderful, but he does put together competetative teams. I think everyone's thinking is what mine is now... as long as it's not Haz, there's at least some hope here.

I think another year of Haz would have killed any hope of ticket sales. Another criticism of Martz is isn't he on his last leg?

Was he able to coach the whole season this year?

Winwin 01-09-2006 07:15 PM

Martz? now i know somebody(loomis) doesn't have a clue. martz sucks big doggie poop. flat-out stinks! and the worsts part of it is, he thinks he's good.

LongTimeFan 01-09-2006 07:41 PM

I agree with you Cheramie, this news threw me but not totally surprised I guess, New Orleans CC has bigger fish to fry this days which is to help in bring the city back to where it was before the hurricane
What a joke

CheramieIII 01-09-2006 07:50 PM

Thats a great point LTF where in the hell did they get time to get involved in who was coaching the Saints anyway? They should be rebuilding some houses or getting some businesses back not worrying about Williams getting a coaching job he doesn't deserve. Hey did he not coach Grambling? and what happen there?

LongTimeFan 01-09-2006 08:15 PM

He did coach Grambling and did ok I guess, but left because he was offered a job with the Tampa Bay Bucs as a pro personnel executive, whatever that position is..
He was an ok qb I guess winning the SuperBowl with the Redskins and was MVP for the SB but he is no where close to being a HC in the NFL, as you might know he's from Louisiana but hell even if he was Benson's best friend he wouldn't become the coach of any NFL team, if so that would tell me that Benson has lost his freaking mind

the whole reason i became a saints fan was back in 1990 with mills, vaughn and the rest of that awesome d kicking some arse.

we need to go ahead and sign donnie henderson right now. the saints already have very little stability in the organization and signing a coach this early, especially a minority coach, would go a long way towards making new orleans a much more attractive team to free agents.

I might be ignorant or something but why would that matter at all?

jergensl 01-10-2006 10:16 AM

one of the reasons why a minority coach would make the saints a more attractive organization is that a lot of players would like to play for a minoirty coach. there have been many players that are very outspoken about the need for more minoirty coaches and owners in the nfl.

from the latest i have seen 3 of the top candidates for the saints' hc are minoirty coaches

spkb25 01-10-2006 10:21 AM

well thats probably true jerg. i am sure players look at belichick or parcells and the first thing they think is hum much to white for me.

jergensl 01-10-2006 10:24 AM

if the saints were in the market belichick or parcells than you would have a point.

the saints are looking for an up and commer to come in and be able to recruit some free agents and change the mentality of the team. if you realize it or not minority hiring is seen as a MAJOR issue in the nfl and among many minority players.

saintswhodi 01-10-2006 10:33 AM

I get the point you are trying to make jerg. I look at some of the most recent coaching hires, Lovie smith, Marvin Lewis, and Romeo Crennel, and all three instantly brought credibility, and a new attitude to those franchises. Now, I am not saying a white candidate can not do that, and I don't think you are either, but the success of those three can not be ignored when it comes to hiring. And yes there have been players who have spoken out about preferring to play for a minority coach. But more than anything, I think players want a leader, someone they can follow, someone who commands respect, and gives it. And that can come from any color candidate. I hope we make a good choice.

no doubt whodi, but because a few or some players have spoken out about that does not mean that all or most really give a good damn. not to you on that whodi to jerg. i think the last part of what you had to say is what i was trying to point out whodi. lovie smith brought success this year. i like the guy but lets not forget that. i could give two shiiits who our coach is as long as son biitcch wins. in ther end i think that is how nearly all players feel.

AllSaints 01-10-2006 10:45 AM

well i just want a coach that will actually "COACH" this team.....

spkb25 01-10-2006 10:47 AM

oh and to most of these players the color green has a pretty good influence also

Crusader 01-10-2006 10:58 AM

Good explanations guys,I'm not really used to those kind of issues over here in Sweden.

jergensl 01-10-2006 11:00 AM

i think more players care about that than you are willing to admit. weither you like it or not minority players tend to look up to and connect better with leaders of their same racial and economic background. the bigger picture is that the saints need to prove to the nfl and their players that they should actually give a damn about the saints organization. before this can be done the saints need to prove that they are willing to make the necessary changes to stop the LOSER mentality that surrounds this franchise. part of that is creating a buzz and doing things completely different. one of those different ways is to hire a minority coach. not a token minority coach, but one that has the leadership abilities to entice some free agents to come and play for a more progressive organization.

spkb25 01-10-2006 11:14 AM

so your point wasn't that you thought it might be a decent idea to hire a minority coach it is that THEY SHOULD hire a black coach. and stop saying minority because that pertains to more then one race sir and you are speaking of one race which is the black race. i am pretty sure you aren't saying you would prefer they hire an american indian for the position. so save the PC for someone who needs to hear it. i prefer honesty. i like things said the way they are meant. don't skate around how you really feel. so people or is it just players connect better with people of their same race. i am interested in this because i thought that was why white people didn't want black people sharing in the same schools or organizations as them. it was because they felt more comfortable around people of thier own race and economic make up. that is always a good idea and rarely is that considered racism. i work with 4 people all of which are black and until he was laid off my boss was also black. um i never felt like i couldn't relate to those people. that must be because i am white.

spkb25 01-10-2006 11:18 AM

oh and the 4 people i work with is all that are in my position. 5 people and i am the only one that is white if i didn't make that clear

jergensl 01-10-2006 11:30 AM

well atleast you are not taking what i said out of context. hahaha
