fanjn,

When evaluating one must look at the supporting talent pool on the team and then look at what was done with that pool, and against what defences?
i coudn't agree more. leinart played in a week pac-10...young played in the dismal big 12...jacobs played in the weak mac...croyles stats are just horrible no matter what conference he was in...cutler had decent stats at best.

gfantasticlsu,
are you seriously comparing croyle to brady and delhomme? try this on for size:
Brady*In his first year Brady completed 214 of 350 passes (61.1%) for 2,636 yards and 15 touchdowns, setting a school record for the most attempts and completions in a season.
*In his second year completed 214 of 341 passes (62.8%) for 2,586 yards, 20 touchdowns, and only 6 interceptions.
*INT ratio of 1.8%
Delhomme
*As a freshman he threw 145-of-259 for 1,842 yards and 14 touchdowns with 12 interceptions
*His college totals were 9,216 yards on 655-of-1,246 passing with 64 touchdowns and 57 interceptions.
*Thats an INT ratio of 4.5%

So basically Croyle should not even be mentioned in the same breath as Brady. I could maybe make a case for being on a similar level as Delhomme, but he was in the league for 6 years and spent some time in NFL Europe before he was worth anything. So if you want to waist a late 1st round pick or even a first day pick on a guy that will take 5 years to develop go ahead.

You forgot to mention that he threw 12 interceptions.

For those of you bashing Croyle...if you think he won't be drafted u are crazy. He'll go first day for sure.

Croyle and Cutler put up great numbers to say they played in the toughest conference BY FAR.

he will be drafted the first day, but it will be a big mistake. i it will take 5 years for him to develop, if he does. you can quote me on that.

The stats don't change my opinion that our only pick here should be Leinart, if he's there. My biggest problem with AB hasn't been his fumbles, or his smiling, or even his inconsistency. My problem with him is his accuracy - of which he has very little. Horn seemed to be able to make the "behind him" catches, but Stallworth and others seemed to struggle with this. Throwing behind a WR also negates the WRs biggest advantage: speed. Rarely, if ever, did AB hit a WR in stride. Everything I hear about Leinart is that he is an accurate passer. Plus, his TD to INT rates look good.
