What do you think the Dome needs?
 

If you were given the chance to pick three things you would like to add or renovate in the Dome.....what would they be?

I have never been there but I would not mind the ring around the Dome teleprompt, a little more lighting, and nothing but Gold and Black chairs.

You've never been there but you know what it needs? How about actually going there and THEN figure what it needs. Right now it just needs to be fixed up.

Hey coastal...I have actually been there twice. I've just never been to an actual Saints home game is what I should have said. But for the most part I've been watching it on TV for the last 7 years. The question is....now that they are renovating and improving...what would you like to see? Oh and for the record...I never said I KNEW what it needed...I only said I would not mind it having....so chill buddy.

It needs to ban smoking and be vigilant about it. It's no wonder the Saints are terrible at home, they're suffocating. And the carbon monoxide poisoning explains the natives intelligence and short life spans.

Hmmm... I see. LOL. Well I brought this up because even though I have always loved the concept of the Dome, enjoyed listening to 68,000 fans screaming their heads off at any given game(on my TV anyway), the stadium itself was never too flashy. Now that I am reading articles on the fact that they might upgrade a bunch of things thanx to some incoming money I was wondering what people may have wanted to see built or put in.

It really just needs to be torn down and replaced with a new state of the art facility....open air stadium preferred.

Ok coastal but....doesn't it rain a lot in NO? How about retractable? Or maybe because we wear black...wouldn't the heat and humidity kill the team?

Hey...I got it. If the top stays white.... They need to slap a giant black Fleur on the top of the Dome. It would make great TV coverage as well as a nice treat for people flying in. These are just ideas popping off the the of my head.

Do they HAVE to wear black? If it was an open stadium everybody could smoke....just like Rickey does. Open, retractible whatever just build a newer stadium. It's time to change the uniforms anyway.

I like the uniforms, I think they should wear the black paints, instead of the gold. I think they should increase the leg room or have the chair somewhat adjustable.

When the dome was built, the technology for constructing roofs from fabric was at its infancy. Theoretically, one could have a retractable roof made of teflon coated/infused fiberglas, but its own properties would give rise to other issues, not to mention all the gears and pulleys necessary to operate it. The Denver Airport is a prime example.

Maybe they should go to the "All Blacks" like the New Zealand Rugby team. Just a hint of gold striping with white numbers and move to a black helmet. People look slower on film running in all black, so it would hypnotize the opposition into believing that the team is slower than it really is.

Does anyone else think that on tv the playing area looks a bit washed out? Could moving from "white flourescent" to a "yellow flourescent" make the place look brighter? In person it's absolutely dreary.

Bms, I agree with you and I don't know how you're the first to complain, but being 6'2", the seats, even on the 50 are so uncomfortable. I stand up even when an opponent does something good just to relieve the tension on backs, knees and keep the seat in front of me from making a permanent impression on my shins. Yes, BIGGER SEATS.

I actually started a thread on the uniform ordeal. Black/helmet/gold fleur with the gold jersey and black pants for home and white jersey with white or black pants for away. But I'll save that for the other thread that I started on the uniforms. So the seats are actually not too comfortable huh? hmmm....i did not know that. WHen I went to the Dome I took the $7 tour. Place blew me away I was just upset that the carpet was not laid out at the time.

I think the dome needs a caramel filling myself.

Hey, the seats are MUCH BETTER than in Philly... the Vet or Link. And they have more leg room. I'd like to see bigger (and/or more) replay monitors.

I also think that the seats need to go. The colors are horrific. A better roof and more to look at also seem like good ideas. The current monitors are crap.

Better seats is one thing we need in the dome, not that I do much sitting but it would be nice to have a good seat to sit on at the half.

I would say the dome could use a corporate sponsor first of all. Give the 50 million dollar check directly to Benson and tell him to guarantee the Saints will be there for at least another 5 years.

More noise during the opposing teams offensive possessions. We will make a rule during that period of time if you are not up and making noise that we will chop a finger off, then it will progress from there. We could sell the fingers to the University of Tulane and donate the proceeds to, you guessed it, Mr Benson.

Third we need a winning team and if Mr. Benson can make money off my first two suggestions maybe, just maybe he will put more emphasis on that and not just moving out of town.

Get the team to win and the money will follow.

I agree with ya LTF that is usually the case but with Benson, well he is like the movie Jerry McGuire, 'SHOW ME THE MONEY" and I don't think they will win until he is statisfied that he is getting paid properly, by his standards anyway because we all think he is getting a mega deal now.

dome interior is of poor tastse. 70's color style. new seats for sure. it is just butt ugly inside and the venting is poor. a few banners in the rafters would be perfect

Let's retire the # 57 and put a banner up using Ricky's number, that would look nice.

Definately need a jumbotron in the Dome. Most of the time when I'm at a game, I cannot see what the heck is happening on the other side of the field. Those little crap TV's don't cut it for me... one nice big jumbotron will do the trick.

Your right, the screens in the dome suck, there's much much better screens out on the market today compared to like 30 somewhat years..

I totally agree. I think I made a comment before. I think they should rip out the seats and put in gold anf black chairs. Have you ever seen a falcons game in the dome? Ever notice how red the place looks? Their seats play a large part in that. With gold and black seating it would definitely give the dome much more of a "home stadium" look rather than a convention center where the Saints just happen to play their home games.

Side note...I say we write a letter to Benson for helmet conversion. Black helmet...gold fleur. Who's with me?? ;0)
