It looks like the Titans are hoping that Young will drop to #3.

Quote:

"He is a once-in-a-lifetime athlete,'' said Dave Te' Thomas of The NFL
Draft Report. "No one in the NFL can hold a candle to this kid. He is
the prototype quarterback of the future. Twenty years from now, we'll
be sitting up in Canton (Ohio at the Pro Football Hall of Fame) where
he's dusting off his bust.''

Vince Young?

Nope, although many experts are saying similar things about the
University of Texas quarterback leading up to the April 29-30 NFL
Draft.

Those words were uttered in 1994 to describe Steve McNair, who was in
his final season at Alcorn State.
Does anyone think McNair was a bad pick? If Young has a similar career as a Saint as McNair has had as a Titan then how would you grade picking Young at #2?

I have always liked McNair and I am content that he shook the label of "bust waiting to happen" when drafted. What I love the most about him is he is a pure warrior. He is ALWAYS sacrificing himself to do his best on the field. He can't put a team on his back to victory, but he will go down trying. This unfortunately takes it toll and at some point or another injuries are bound to happen and with McNair there has been a lot of them. In my mind this does not take away from the great player he is. Any guy that gives his all the way McNair does is a football player in my book.

Young is going to be tough to bring down just like McNair. I really trust we will be trading down in the draft.

VY doesn't remind me of McNair. Does anybody else feel that way? McNair doesn't mind getting hit, he'd lower his shoulder. He is also a pass first, run second kinda guy. VY tries to avoid people, and he would much rather run than pass. I don't know, just my opinion.

If I remember correctly, Mcnair was pretty much a "running" quarterback when he was drafted. It took him a while to become the player he is now (when healthy).

And about whether or not VY is willing to take a hit, I've seen him play a number of times and must say he seems willing to take a hit. If he wasn't, then he wouldn't run so often. However, he won't take a big hit, which is smart to me. No need to risk ending your season by lowering your shoulder to get a first down in week 3.

McNair was more than jut a running QB at Alcorn St. when he was drafted. That guy put up HUGE passing numbers as well, hence the nickname "Air" McNair. While he did rush for over 2000 yards he also passed for over 4000 his senior season. He could pretty much do it all.

 Woops! Let me rephrase that. I knew was a great passer in college. What I meant to say was that I remember him taking a few years to translate that to the pros. In fact, he didn't really have decent passing numbers until the 2001 season

Didn't Mcnair run and throw a combined seventy plays in a single game in college, or was that Culpepper?
