Interesting Thought on Omar Jacobs

Where do you think Bowling Green QB Omar Jacobs could land? Could the Jets pick him up in the 3rd or 4th round? -- Bill, Wantagh, N.Y.
He's been a very difficult evaluation for me. His passing numbers were excellent at Bowling Green, although they dropped off last year. He was in an ideal system, but doesn't have a text book release. You could say the same thing about Vince Young, but he is a far superior athlete. Jacobs projects as a second-day pick.

Josh Harris was Bowling Green's QB before Jacobs. He threw for a ton of yards and was very successful in college, but Harris has yet to establish himself in the NFL.
No need to take a chance on this guy.

You can't tell me people are still pushing for Omar Jacobs. You can't. Nope, you can't. I refuse to believe that. Noone on this board is still mentioning Jacobs. Nope. I will not believe that is still going on.

I still like him... I'm not pushing for him by any means because Leinart is our guy. But if some freak of nature event happens and we don't draft Leinart, I'm not opposed of selecting him later. I like to go by what I've seen, and he's a player. The thing with the people writing these articles is that they are quick to jump of the wagon. When Jacobs was hot last year, people were all over him saying how he's going to be an excellent pro and such. When he gets injured for a couple of games and not throw 40 plus touchdowns, he then is a product of the system blah blah blah and all that mumbo jumbo.

That's definitely me papz. I liked Omar last year, but that was before this season, and before we had a shot at Leinart. I jumped off that bandwagon almost as fast as people jumped on the Vince Young bandwagon. Soon as I saw we had a real shot at Leinart, I turned into Omar who? If we don't get Leinart, I could live with Young, or even Cutler. But I am all the way turned around on Jacobs. I think he is the same as A-Mac, and we don't need two of the same guy.

And I can see your point with A-Mac and Jacobs... it would be a wasted pick if we decided to take Jacobs later. Two quarterbacks in the same mold. Yeah I still remember you were right there with me on Jacobs all last season... I'm not as high on him as I was last season either, but he's better than what a lot of people are saying about him this year. I can still remember watching a BG game with Kiper as a special guest praising Jacobs as a future first and now he's totally off the radar this year. That's why I think Kiper along with so many other analyst are all crap. Basically I'm just saying he's not a "big risk" like people are making him out to be. As a passer, he's more polished than Young... but once again, that's just me.
