What would You guys think of this trade scenario?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I brought this idea up in another thread a few days ago, but I think I will flesh it out a bit more. Here it is. New Orleans gets the No. 1 overall pick. Houston gets Stalworth, Sullivan, Gandy, Jacox, ...

What would You guys think of this trade scenario?

I brought this idea up in another thread a few days ago, but I think I will flesh it out a bit more. Here it is.

New Orleans gets the No. 1 overall pick.

Houston gets Stalworth, Sullivan, Gandy, Jacox, and Watson. Plus the Saints' 2007 second round pick.

The Saints trade the No. 1 overall pick to the Packers for their first, second, and third round picks this year and their first next year and Donald Driver.

if the Saints sign Drew Brees, then they could trade down from the No. 2 pick also. Of course that would also mean that there would be no reason not to trade the No. 1 pick to the Jets. Then they could trade the No. 2 pick to the Packers.

Maybe I think too much like CheramieIII.

Proponents of higher-order theories of consciousness argue that consciousness is explained by the relation between two levels of mental states in which a higher-order mental state takes another mental state. If you mention this to Chuck Norris, expect an explosive roundhouse kick to the face for spouting too much fancy-talk.

I look at it this way. Stalworth is not going to develop much more in the future. Yes he is a decent second receiver, but his catching ability is too suspect. Sure he had an okay season last year, and that makes him perfect trade bait. He may never be worth more in a trade than he is now.

Sullivan may be beginning to come into his own, but he is making too much money to warrant waiting out the entire length of his contract to see if he pans out. If he hasn't done it by now he needs to go.

Gandy, Jacox, and Watson may not be worth much individually, but packaging them with Sullivan and Stallworth makes the trade much more enticing to Houston. They get a receiver to go opposite Andre Johnson, two starting offensive linemen, a possible starter at linebacker, and the second round pick next year. They can then focus on their offensive line for the rest of the draft. Ferguson is not the only left tackle out there, he's just rated the highest.

Green Bay would make a trade with the Saints in either scenario because I guarantee they are desperate to get Reggie Bush. Think about it, Green and Davenport are probably headed elsewhere. The guy that did well for them at the end of last season may have won over the hearts of a lot of Packer fans, but I honestly don't think you can take the chance of making him the number one running back this coming season. Besides, it Brett Favre retires they are going to need a big ticket attraction, and that other guy isn't it.

to be honest with you, i never felt stalworth lived up to his potential either. all the tools as brooks and nothing to show for it. i would be happy if the saints never drafted another reciever again.........
as far as the rest, it would be nice to get the trade scenerios everyone thinks we can get, but we'll wait and see if another ricky trade is possible to our advantage ............smitty

RE: Re: RE: What would You guys think of this trade scenario

If Stallworth goes, I am pretty much leaving te Saints. We be losing all of my favorite Saints (Bentley, Stallworth, and already lost T. Smith and Turley)..... We just giving up too many decent to above average players. I kjnow thats us, the Saints, but if my favorite player leaves my favorite team, thats just down right gay. Plus, how does all of those guys add up to the #1 pick? Yeah, I know Stallworth hasn't lived up to his potential, but he will. I have watched him play some in college to know he can play. Sure, I don't mind the other 4, because I have no real fondness of them, but just the thought of Stallworth leaving the Saints makes me ..... disgraced with the Saints.

There is no way I trade Stallworth. No way. With a decent QB to throw him the ball, that kid will shine. I would think it would be kinda hard to be a receiver with blazing speed, with a QB who makes you a possession receiver cause he thows in the dirt or behind you more often than not. I'd at least like to see Stallworth with a new QB who can take advantage of his speed. Sullivan can go. But I really don't see Houston accepting a trade for a bunch of throw away players. That's like if a Titans fan was to come in here and say they'd trade us 4 disposable players and a second round pick next year for our pick. We'd laugh them off the board.

I agree with Whodi... I'd like to see Stallworth catch some passes from a different QB. Someone who could lead and let him catch em in stride... with that speed... man! He's coming off a good year and Joe Horn isnt getting any younger. Theres a pretty big drop after Donte at WR, but we could bring T.O. in... just kidding

Hey for once we agree.
Stallworth had his FIRST Injury free season and played well, (considering the play of the entire team) he could be in contension for Team offensive MVP, I mean who else could you even consider. I think as he continues to mature(remember he was a young junior comming out of college if I remember correctly) he will become a probowler. Yes he did suffer from the drops and had a few fumbles ( some big ones) but he came back and played his heart out.

I also think Sully will come into his own under a new coaching staff. I think Haslett was too concerned about keeping the kid lean. DT's take a few years to develop in this league and This could be his year.

Stallworth live up to his potiental? How many drops did he have? But the hype is still alive with him and I feel we could get a low #3 or #4 straight up for him with the contract numbers he has. He will never develope into a #1 WR.
Sullivan - Potiental after last year? He has the draft value of 5 or 6 at the best. Redo contract to a second teamer with performance clause and he is worth it up the value to 4 or 5.
Watson - with our LB well Loaded with WOLB he is too valuable at MLB tough call on his value. 5,6 coming of IR. But with all the LB on FA this will be a new crop next year.
Jacox another 5 to 6 value but C is up in the air.
Gandy, dump 4 million for what ever you can get. he is a 6 to 7.

4,5,6.7 plus a #2 they would be stupid to accept the deal. They already have a boat load player like those we would offer. Maybe for there top pick in second round straight out for Gandy, Sullivan, plus our fifth.

Trade the 34th and move down picking up a 4. package Watson and that pick and move up to the third. If you package Stallworth with that pick you can get up to a high 3 or low 2.

That would give us 1- #2 , 2-#33 and mid rond pick, 3- 1 pick mid to high, our number 4. Imagine if you add trading down the #2 to the list. add another 3 and 4 to the list in this years draft. and a 2-#1 ad 2-#2 next year. Dumping caps of Bentley,Howard,Boo,Gandy,Sullivan, and Donte or Watson makes it possible to be cap friendly with a boat load of draft picks. Skip taking on any big contracts like Drivers. Besides With a rookie QB they would be crazy to trade him. My dream trade would be with denver and 2 #1's. imagine the wheling dealing then
