Hopefully means that they will not trade up to go after Leinart. Might be content with drafting Drick or Cutler.

Bush I tell ya... they're going to get Bush! My sixth sense is telling me that trade will go down. 8)

FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer reports that Chad Pennington and the Jets have agreed on a restructured contract.
It doesn't appear the deal hinges on a new CBA, but it hasn't been signed yet. Pennington will receive a $3 million salary and can earn up to $6 million in incentives. He will have to battle for his job. The Jets are still expected to show interest in Jon Kitna, which is curious. Mar. 5 - 6:09 pm et

RE: espn news says pennington to stay with jets

Was just about to post this article when I saw it. Anyways, sports talk shows up here have stopped talking about the Jets trading up. The chances of them trading up right now is very slim (although we all know things change quickly). Besides the signing of Penny, the Jets have shown interest in Cutler and I think they would be happy to get him at #4 and trade Abraham for and extra pick in the first round (as opposed to using him for trade bait with the Texans). Green Bay and San Fran aren't trading up and I don't see the Texans trading down to the #7 spot with Oakland.

Jets | Team officially announces new deal with Pennington
Sun, 5 Mar 2006 15:32:21 -0800

NewYorkJets.com reports the New York Jets announced they have officially agreed to a contract extension with QB Chad Pennington. Per team policy, details of both the financial and length of the agreement were not disclosed. "Our intention all along was to have Chad remain with the Jets and we never wavered from that," said general manager Mike Tannenbaum. "Chad is a courageous and talented leader. Throughout this process, he put the interests of the team ahead of his own, enabling us to reach an agreement on terms beneficial to both parties. Chad has worked very hard to return from the surgery he underwent in October and has shown the same determination in rehab as he exhibits on the field. He understands the challenges associated with coming back from his injury, but is committed to do what it takes to succeed."
