Trade Down and Trade Down Again????

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; OK... let's say we trade out of the #2 pick with the Jets and then trade the #4 pick to a team that is no higher than the 8th pick. This would allow us to still obtain a high pick ...

Trade Down and Trade Down Again????

OK... let's say we trade out of the #2 pick with the Jets and then trade the #4 pick to a team that is no higher than the 8th pick. This would allow us to still obtain a high pick this year and receive a high 2rd this year with the addition of a #1 picks next year, or a 3rd this year and two #1 next year.

This would allow to have a shot at the following top 10 players....

RB Reggie Bush
OT D'Brickshaw Ferguson - although unlikely
DE Mario Williams
LB AJ Hawk - Gotta love this name for a LB!
DT Haloti Ngata
TE Vernon Davis
QB Vince Young
QB Jay Cuttler
S Mike Huff
RB Lendale White

This way instead of Leinart we get possibly 4 very good players including Brees. Of course if we drafted Haloti Ngata we could possibly trade DE Charles Grant... what do you think he's worth is???

Who would you hope to draft #8???

If we were to trade Grant (which I'm still very hesitant to do, he's a proven player with a nasty attitude that I like having), why not offer him to the Broncos? The Broncos really want John Abraham but can't afford him. They don't have a lot of money under the cap and really need pass rush. Grant is definately worth 1 of those first rounders, if not both of them.

In this scenario, I'd be ok with staying put a #2, 3 or 4 and taking Brick and then taking a quality LB and bpa with the second Broncos pick.

Well I think DE Williams would be a pick that someone would be willing to trade up for. This would make it impossible to trade Grant. The most likely pick is the TE and with 4.38 speed, Brees has a faster target then he had in San Deigo. I'm with you on Dbrick... He's going to be great for 10+ years.

I'd like to see us pick up one more good linebacker in free agency, draft Ferguson, and draft 2 more linebackers in other rounds.
