Loomis Plan '06

in the SI story/synopsis of the Drew Brees press conference he said this-

Loomis said the Saints hope to fill most of their needs through free agency and then take the best player available in the draft, which was what they did with the selection Deuce McAllister, even though Ricky Williams was already on the roster and coming off a strong second season in the league.
first, fill most needs though free agency. there are definitely more needs to fill. it will take a few more signings to get to "most" of them. dare we hope for another uncharacteristic surprise impact signing?

second, best player philosophy. that could be tricky at #2. probably back to a mario or d'brick decision. moving down to the jets #4 or lower to get hawk could be an easier decision.

RE: Loomis Plan

That best player quote makes me think about Mario WIlliams. I think it would be an AWFUL pick, but they're not asking me.

he's on my list fo sho. one more solid if not spectacular FA LB would be very securing. at least not having to get castoff dregs from other teams during the season cuz we have no depth. i gotta think we will get at least one player worth keeping between watson, fincher, and bock too.
