But I have to wonder why all of the sudden committment to winning . With all of these signings I have to wonder if they are getting ready to build a team to move. I mean -- they never were this active in Free Agency -- I hope I am wrong but if you throw in a number 2 -- sign another top linebacker and cornerback (like Allen) and we have a lot of talent on this squad.

RE: Not to be negative

Benson knows he cannot move the team to San Antonio and the only way its going to L.A. is with a new owner. He is trying to put buts in the seats thats my.02 anyway

... queue up Bette Midler:
"it's da heaaaart, afraid of dyyy-iing, that neverrrrrr... learns to liiveeeee..."

..again, how I know the lyrics to one of The Divine One's songs, is none of your business

..I'd be more worried if they didn't do anything' because the Saints losing would be more conductive of them moving than staying. Losing would almost guarantee disinterest from all but the more passionate fans, which would equal less profit, which would give the Saints and the league a perfect excuse for leaving after they "tried their best"...

i don't think such a drastic change in commitment as much as better decision making. if they wanted to move they would have as poor of a team as possible this year for low attendance and thus making the case for relocation all the easier. we have had 4-5 long years of mismanagement. we had the nfl executive of the year and fired him. it seems the team was more haslett's than we even knew. loomis knows very little about football and personnel. no slam, he is just a bean counter though. it seems he was just doing the bidding for haz. if he is doing the same for payton more power to him. payton certainly has a good pedigree and out of the gate the decisions have been solid.

I have to agree with tigersaints, I believe Benson is trying to remove his foot from his mouth and show uncharacteristically how much he wants to win with new blood and new players. It might not last, but let's enjoy while we can.

i figure this. we have got a good coaching staff in there that knows what it takes tow in and are trying to do that. but there was a year haz tryed adding a bunch of guys on d. his moves never worked out. maybe it will be the same for payton but one thing makes me think it isn't. to me when haz made his free agency pick ups he was always looking for the diamond in the rough. there was always a guy that should have been a great talent and haz was going to be the one to do it. never worked that i can think of.

Your team stinks

Payton is not stupid...like Parcells, he wants to WIN NOW! Putting butts in seats is the FO job, his goal is to put the best team he can on the field and teach them with a LARGE dose of discipline!

I get the sense Payton does not like rookies...sound familiar? I wonder where he pick this trait up from? Rookies make TOO many DUMB mistakes. Hmmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
