Is it really worth signing a LB in FA?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I don't think the Saints should sign a big time Linebacker via FA. First, we'll have to overpay to get a Arrington. Second, this year's draft class is loaded with lbs that are young and cheap. I say we go ...

I say we go for D'Quell Jackson or Abdul Hodge in the 2nd rd (we have to draft Da Brick with our 1at). what do yall think?

We never use all of our cap anyway. I'm not worried about overpaying, as long as overpaying means we come up with an elite player.

Arrington is the only big time name left. I don't think he would come here if we offered anyway. Cato June is stil out there. Solid, dependable, not a bank breaker.

im sorry but i would give arrington 54 mil over 6 years to have him on our team... the guy is better than advertised and wasnt even starting for the skins the 2nd half of the year and still put up great #s

I'm with Pak. Signing a guy who would instantly be the best player on the defense doesn't seem like overpaying to me. It's big money, but not truly insane money since Arrington is only 27.

i like him as a player but i believe it has been reported that he has a narrow list of teams he wants to play for. didn't see the link to which teams right off but i did read where he said he wanted to play against the redskins twice a year. anyhoo, when it isn't in the realm of possibility i try not to get too buzzed about it.

Another vote with Pak -- Arrington has a chip on his shoulder after his treatment from the Skins. He wants to go somewhere where he will be the man -- we are that spot -- we get him and we can draft the OT from UVA who is supposed to be the franchise type player like Orlando Pace was. Why wouldn't you want to get one of the premier linebackers in the league

I totally agree pak. Besides, Cato June is a restricted free agent & the Colts want a 1st rounder for him. In my opinion, that is too steep. Especially w/ the quality LB's that can be had in the 1st round of this year's draft.
