Brooks Signed by Raiders (Seriously)

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I wish Aaron well, and I hope he has success against every team, but the Saints. I want to hear Drew get just as much put downs, when he throws an interception or fumbles as Aaron got. I want to ...

I want to hear Drew get just as much put downs, when he throws an interception or fumbles as Aaron got. I want to her Drew called dumb just like Aaron was, when he throws a bad pass.

Funny how Aaron was smart enough to win the Saints only playoff game. Which I guess means the other Saints QBs were not as smart as him, since they didn't win any playoff games, with the Saints.

Yes that's exactly what it means. AB is the smartest QB the Saints have ever had.

AB would not have gotten half of the criticism he got if he just stopped smiling and kept his yap shut.

He wouldn't have gotten half the criticism... if he hadn't thrown boneheaded backward passes to offensive tackles. C'mon, they guy may have been athletic, but he was dumber than a box of rocks.

I for one am grateful. Though it's way overdue.

Personally I hope he does well.
Yeah, right...me, too [/sarcasm off]. I live in Northern California around a lot of RaiderNation types and many of them ask me about Brooks now. I just laugh. I tell 'em, "Look at his stats for last year" knowing full well Kerry Collins actually did better than ol' Aaron. Then I tell 'em "He's a top 5 quarterback, just ask him".

A few remarks from Raider boards.

yep, unfortunately brooks is a slight upgrade over collins (who isn't?) and quite frankly, he sucks. what choice was there really, would have been nice to have a qb who had the capability to take us to the superbowl (such as brees), but unfortunately we got stuck another version of collins that probably won't even get us to the playoffs (providing he wins the starting job...which he probably will due to experience). anyways, can't say next season is going to be any different from the past 3, but i hope i'm wrong.

I think Brooks is a significant upgrade to Collins but that is a very low bar. But my concerns are not with ability but leadership. We all know the starting QB needs to grab this team by the neck and make it his from day 1. Everyone is accountable.
I cant take much more of this s..t. another freaking year in the cellar.

The cutting of collins and firing of turner made me Happy. Letting Hill go and re-signing gibson I thought was a mistake. But now with another f*cking idiot behind center, I am losing hope in this organization. All you people who say that you like the signing, ask a New Orleans fan what they think. They've been praying to get rid of Brooks just like we were praying to get rid of collins. You can look at his numbers or this and that, but that tells me you never watched him play. I never saw an impressive thing come out of that guy. You can watch Vick and say "Wow!" even though you know he won't win a thing, and you can watch Manning and say "Holy F*ckin Wow!" and know that he won't win a thing either. But I never was impressed watchin Brooks. Now I have to watch him for 16 games. I don't care what they're paying him or anything, but I hope he gets hurt early in the year. Like preseason. Then I won't mind if we end up 5-11. But with this clown behind center I'll be pissed every loss that this franchise makes bonehead moves every time they go get a QB.

Oddly enough 70ish percent of the responses to their poll think he's a good to great signing.

as a fan for over thirty years I believe I have the right to *****. If you honestly believe this signing is a good thing then perhaps you need to watch
some more ball and drink less beer, I suppose you are the same people that
tout V.Young, calling him Gannon like, yet dismissing Tui who is a baby
Gannon, open your eyes and make up your mind.
The guy has his problems... but he also has been mired in the football hell of Saintdom.

His ability to avoid pressure and hurt defenses with his legs is a giant leap forward over Collins. The OL should benifit greatly.

He should also be a nice fit with Moss. A freelancer like Moss is a great weapon for a QB who can find some extra time.

Brooks may not be the QB to bring us deep into the playoffs, but he should do enough to get us close... all the while giving Walter some time to develop.

I like it.
And I was almost going to feel sorry for Raider fan.

At any rate. If AB get to throw the ball as far as he can every down and let Moss try and get under it, he might be ok.

I'm glad he got signed. Well see how he does behind a different O line. I'll reserve comment until then.
But Moss can't make him look bad, just look at Culpeppers numbers with Moss.

I've said it before...AB is probably a decent guy. He was certainly never a bad citizen, just a flake. I think that's what it comes down to...he's a little off and has a strange approach. He was never my favorite QB, just the most frustrating to watch. Tons of potential with some really nice throws followed by maddening decisions and stretches of complete ineptitude.

I wish AB well, but I actually like both the Chiefs and the Chargers. He is gonna have a rough year down there. I don't hate the man, just his approach and his lack of accountability.

And for you guys saying poor pitiful AB, if he had a line, if he had a deep threat...... You people have no clue how to watch football. Sure, the coaching has left alot to be desired, but AB as a sympathetic figure never got it for me. He made alot of bad throws and cost us alot of games. There is plenty of blame to go around, but it was time for him to go. It's better for him and it's better for us.

Now, I just dread week 5 when AB has his first good game and all you toolbags come on here saying "see...he is good". Then you will go back into the woodwork till he has his next good game in week 9. Get over it. It's not the line, it's not the receivers, it's not the D, AB is a QB and he gets paid like one. All the blame and all the credit. Now, let's get on with our freaking lives and support the Saints.
