Top Seven, Part II

There was pretty solid consensus of who the top seven picks were as to talent rating on another thread. We know it always doesn't shake out that way though. There is always a Sullivan like name thrown in towards the top of the board somewhere. It is a while to the draft but let's compare the top seven in rating to what we think the top seven actual picks are. I am hoping that NO can trade down once, if not twice even. There could be other trades as well. Let's discount that, project no trades, and give your Top Seven Picks prediction with the teams in order as they now stand.

I'll jump first-
1 Texans, BUSH
2 Saints, D'BRICK
3 Titans, LEINART
4 Jets, MARIO WILLIAMS
5 Packers, HAWK
6 Niners, MICHAEL HUFF
7 Raiders, VERNON DAVIS

Remember, Sullivan's career is not over. He may turnout to be the best player from that draft. If he does, I hope it is with the Saints. You look at a player after they finish playing.

1. Texans, BUSH--Because he is looked at as the best player.
2. Saints, D'BRICK--Because he gives the team two great O-tackles.
3. Titans, LEINART--Because the OC is his college coach.
4. Jets, MARIO WILLIAMS--Because they lost Abraham.
5. Packers, the D-tackle, forgot his name--Because they might or have lost Grady.
6. Niners, A.J. HAWK--Because they lost Peterson.
7. Radiers, MICHAEL HUFF--Because they need defense.

I want to change two of them.

6. Niners, MICHAEL HUFF--Because they need defense.
7. Radiers, VINCE YOUNG--Because he can learn second to Aaron.

pretty strong rumor from pft, all the better for us...

A league source tells us that the Oakland Raiders "were all over" quarterback Vince Young at his March 22 pro day workout in Austin, and that there's a strong belief in league circles the Raiders will select him with the seventh overall pick in the draft, if he's still available.

We're also told that the Raiders are worried that Young won't be available in the seven hole.

The Titans, with the third pick, could be the best bet to take Young. The Jets, at No. 4, are a more remote possibility. Other teams could try to strike a trade with one of the teams who pick before the Raiders in order to move up and get Young before the Raiders can gobble him up.

1 Texans -- Reggie Bush
2 Saints -- D'Brick
3 Titans -- Cutler
4 Jets -- Leinart
5 Packers -- Mario Williams
6 Niners -- Vernon Davis
7 Raiders -- Vince Young

Not sure if any one told you but we picked up Brees about 2 weeks ago.

As I'm well aware of it... and...

Althogh I would reverse the first two QBs we still need some insurance in case Brees can not go.

LKelley67 03-23-2006 02:31 PM

i agree insurance is needed but more in the form of a proven veteran rather than a wide eyed rookie. Tommy Maddox, Anthony Wright, Tony Banks have all started plenty and are still available.

saintbuck 03-23-2006 02:44 PM

If somone would show A-mac the difference between a guard and a center, I think he could make a good back up

FanNJ 03-23-2006 03:04 PM

Personnally I'd would rather have the Rookie because if Brees can't go then we could be in the same situation next season...IE the Jets (2004 & 2005), If we could get a trade scenerio and Pick up Cutler or Leinart and some other picks I think that would still be desireable.

I'm not sold on A mac. Have not seen alot of him, I would have liked to see him in NFL European Vacation, but that may happen after next season, as I think his contract was of the 4 year variety.

I would not Mind AJ or the Brick in a trade down scenrio.. I think at # two and for the bucks you go QB or tackle.

But that's one route and one opinion

In Brooks' defense: He thought that guard was a cornerback. :D
