Look he had a 1/2 of a good season in Minnesota and everyone was high on the guy just like AB. He ain't shiiiiit, just like AB and never will be. If you want someone who will hold onto the ball hire a monkey for 2nd QB, he'll do alot better job. Bouwoman can only take the snap and do nothing more with it, period.

Only one man's opinion.

RE: what are we going to do with todd

yeah his age is catching up with him also. He was good and I think he could have been damn good if a team got him from Min. and started him day one. His whole career he has been on second unit, little reps, and you don't get the full speed rush in practice a lot on second team and being protected by a red jersey.

RE: what are we going to do with todd

euph are you saying that the seond team qb doesn't get protected by the red jersey?

RE: what are we going to do with todd

how did you read that out of it??? I am saying he does get protected wearing a red shirt, he doesn't get hit. he gets little reps and little to no game time. I like the guy in MN and if he went to any other team and started he would have been a pretty good QB. His age is catching up to him fast and not developing anymore... he done his job here in NO and now its time for him to retire or move on. His worse career move has been coming to NO. lol.

RE: what are we going to do with todd

i didn't read that into it which is why i asked you that question. i was trying to understand your point. that pat about the red shirt makes no sense since every team in the nfl protects their qb's with the red shirt. it isn't like he came to n.o. and had to wear a red shirt all of a sudden. the other part you said makes sense but i am not sure what he could have been or couldn't. he just has sucked when he had a chance. so that is that. and if the fact that he was a second team qb hurt his chances so uch what about the gus that come in as number two's that have success.

RE: what are we going to do with todd

Do you realize how long this guy has been a number 2??? A LONG TIME... He has a false sense of protection being on second team - redshirt QB for this long. He doesn't feel the pressure when its coming you have to have a feel... "use the force luke" which good-great QB's have. When you are younger you rush getting rid of the ball and try to find the right gauge of pressure, ya can't do that when you're older and haven't had the experiance. I was merly mentioning the red shirt to prove my point.

hostetler?

dwiley21 03-25-2006 11:53 AM

cut bouman go after Harrington, the team can probably get him cheap and he's younger and better than todd

LongTimeFan 03-25-2006 09:53 PM

He's worst than Brooks, get rid of him, the Saints have no use for him.

jrmllb 03-26-2006 03:11 PM

NO NO NO....Not Harington....He has that special ability to make all the coaches think he has something special and then consistently go out and loose and still keep his job...well until know he has...I think he is just another AB...

saintbenny 03-26-2006 03:44 PM

I THINK WE NEED TO DROP TODD AND GET A SOLID BACK UP JUST IN CASE BREES ISNT READY. ARE FIND OUT IF A MAC CAN HANDLE THE SPOT BUT SOMEONE WILL HAVE TO SHOW HIM WHERE THE CENTER IS MAYBE DUECE CAN HELP HIM WITH THAT LOL

BreesFN9 03-26-2006 04:30 PM

Have not read all the posts on this thread so sorry if what I'm thinking has already been said.

But what if the whole intention was still to draft Leinhart?

Bring in Brees as a mentor that can give us a good few years with a shot at getting into the playoffs and making a run, with a young prospect learning the ropes ready to take over in a few years when we cut Brees loose?

To far fetched or possible? Not sure on all the financial numbers to Brees contract, so just thinking aloud.

LongTimeFan 03-26-2006 04:37 PM

Stallworth, I had the same thought as you with Leinart but a lot of ppl say that the Saints will not draft him, it would be a good move but it would be a big money issue, we have huge needs with the OL so I guess it's where we should start.

BreesFN9 03-26-2006 04:40 PM

Yeah, I was thinking that too, but I have not looked into all the cap space and all those numbers. Maybe they've stopped signing FA to leave room far a Leinhart contract?

Also even if they do get Leinhart at 2, that might make the trade even more sweet as the Jets or maybe even the Pack would be shocked we actually drafted him!

Then Tenn, GB,NYJ and who knows who else might make an offer better then they would have come draft day?

LongTimeFan 03-26-2006 04:53 PM

"Maybe they've stopped signing FA to leave room far a Leinhart contract? "
Some fans were saying that we're not signing FA as other teams have been so you could be right, I said in another thread that I felt something big was getting ready to happen, a big signing or two, we'll see, but something is going on I feel.

I agree with your concept but unless Leinert completely dazzles everyone at his workouts I say draft Jay Cutler. Vandy's like the Stanford of the East, you gotta be intelligent to go their so we get a smart leader used to trying to come from behind, a cannon for an arm but can throw short, touch passes (something Brooks never could do) and a guy with something to prove.

I've seen plenty of USC games to know Matt Leinert doesn't have the "crank it down the field" arm strength that Cutler does. He also has no wheels. He did have the luxury of playing behind an outstanding offensive line. something he may not have in the pros. Just ask David Carr what a reality check that can be. Cutler, on the other hand, played for a lousy team and still was able to kick ass. Advantage Cutler.

Euphoria 03-27-2006 08:19 PM

Not after signing Brees to a 6 year deal. Taking Brick at 2 baby if we can't trade down.

LKelley67 03-27-2006 09:54 PM

I'm not an advocate of a leinart pick but it is quite feasible. the brees contract in reality is a 2 year deal at best. nfl contract's are a sham.
