Whodi, I hope you know that I wasn't serious about the Madden thing. I obviously understand the financial constraints of taking on Ray Lewis' contract, and the negative impacts of moving down in the draft without being properly compensated. I still think that trading down to the Jets, getting the #4, and also a high 2nd rounder is going to be the best thing that will be able to happen to us in the draft.

he's often my first draft choice when I draft a team on Madden.
That clears most things up.

I guess seeing him in a Saints uniform has just always been something I've wanted to see.
Let's just wait for him to retire and then come down to model new unis for us.

I've always wanted to see one of these made for the Saints.

I don't see how Lewis helps us get one for dropping 9 spaces.

good to see some opinions. i could go for it if Lewis LOWERED his contract terms maybe. he is a little too pricey for where he is in his career, muchless increase the terms.

as far as straight value it isn't too wacky. #4 to #13 is 650pts. getting #44 is 460 pts. so in essence you say that Lewis is worth 190pts. that would be pick #80 in the middle of the 3rd rd.

i definitely cannot see BAL being able to go #13 to #2. that would take some kinda ricky williams/herschel walker trade.

those top 3 picks are gold by the chart. 400pt diff between each, then 100pt diff from #4 to #8, then 50pt diff after that.

ray lewis is a great pick up for umm a two years if that, has a problem staying healthy, and dropping out the top ten for anything less the two #1's is not a good idea

1. Houston Texans: Reggie Bush, RB, USC (Joel Segal).
The Texans will pay lip service to the locals by pretending to agonize over the question of whether to pick Bush or Texas product Vince Young. Barring a trade down, it's Bush.

2. Baltimore Ravens (projected trade from Saints): Vince Young, QB, Texas (Major Adams).
The Saints could opt to stay put and draft a quarterback, but we have a weird feeling that the Ravens will fall in love with Young -- and could find a way to jump from No. 13 to snag him. For the Saints, who we hear covet a certain high-end defensive player, the drop by eleven spots will prevent them from getting him. However, the opportunity to slide back by eleven spots, and to avoid the big cash outlay associated with a top five pick, will be very, very tempting to the team's skinflint front office.

kelly, i like this guys prediction better. go to walterfootball.com and click on draft central. smitty

and...

13. New Orleans Saints (projected trade from Ravens): Brodrick Bunkley, DT, Florida State (Gary Wichard).
The last time this team was legit, it had a defensive line that was worth a crap.
----------------

We had a thread on this related topic so I will throw in some update here:

Mike Preston, of the Baltimore Sun, reports associates and friends close to Baltimore Ravens MLB Ray Lewis have said that he doesn't want to play in Baltimore for the 2006 season, but general manager Ozzie Newsome said the linebacker hasn't informed the team of any such intention. Newsome did admit that Lewis had a recent meeting with team owner Steve Bisciotti in Florida, and said Lewis asked to be traded before the start of the 2005 season. A team source said Lewis discussed his contract situation with Bisciotti, among other things. Lewis went into a self-imposed isolation from the team last season after the Ravens declined to restructure his contract, which still has three years left. League sources have said the Ravens were sending out "feelers" in a possible trade for Lewis, but they haven't gotten more than a second-round draft pick in exchange.
-----------------

Okay, how bout #2 to #4 and pick up #35 and #71. Young is still available at #4 and make the aforementioned trade- #4 to #13 for #44 and Ray Lewis.
End result: #13, 34, 35, 44, & 71 with Lewis and Fujita as a LB core.

Yay or Nay?

Smitty, I don't understand that guy's predictions. First of all we traded to #3, then we traded to #7, but we still only had one first round pick. (Also, no way in hell Brick is still there at #7).

Ray Lewis... HELL NO, he doesn't strike fear into anyone anymore. People around him are getting the credit now a days. I am all for trading down but only to get a player that will dominate for years to come on the OL or DL. I will not settle for anyone who will be 'good'. We need to dominate.
