Would you consider J.P. Losman as the backup for Brees?

I just read on Yahoo's NFL page (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl), the Bills may be interested in getting rid of J.P. Losman. I know some of you Green Wave fans may have some insight on that idea...what do you think? I never really got to see him play but coming out of college, I thought there was some chatter about him being a good NFL prospect.

I don't think Losman had a real fair chance to prove himself in Buffalo. I reserve my judgement on him until I see him play a little more. Wouldn't mind seeing him in a Saints uniform either.

that kid wasn't handled properly in Buffalo, he's damaged goods. you can tell by watching him play- his cage has been severly rattled. i hate it for him, because i thought he was a good prospect coming out.

I dont want to see him NO....I'm not sure what they filled his head with in buffalo but it was not a playbook....plus I really think that guy has a serious ego problem...

That seems to be a trend for Tulane QBs. Ramsey, Losman. That being said, i'd give him a shot as a no pressure back-up. You gotta remember, the Bills moved back up itn he first round to grab him as their starter going forward. That's a lot of pressure for a guy not expected to go until the second round.

The most common thing i have read is that his teammates hate him and he is locker room cancer. We have a young project QB already. A known quality vet is the need.

And that quality vet is??? Jeff Blake? Jim McMahon? Ty Detmer? Kerry Collins?

This is a list by espn of all the FA quarterbacks are and where they've gone, if they've moved. Who's your dream acquisition? After lookning at this list, you can't help but want to draft Lienart.

Misread-
Quantity not quality.
Someone who is proven to whatever quality they are. Better than an untested rookie. I would rather see Tommy Maddox as a game one starter or come in off the bench in the middle of game four if Brees is hurt. Immediate pressure on a rookie can not only yield disappointing results (ala a list too long to write) but can scar them permanently. Carson Palmer behind Kitna for a year or Eli behind Warner (until he was injured) is the more proven means of QB developmental success.

As Payton said, We are in the win now business.

As to your two examples, a quality qb to start with a phenominal rookie talent behind them. Thanks for making the argument to draft Lienart so simple.
