Now that we have freed up some money by trading Gandy, can we please show LaVar Arrington the money?
Are we still on this? Not only does he not want to come here, but he's asking for more money than the teams he actually wants to go to are willing to pay. He's asking for Julian Peterson money (7 years, 54 mil). It's just too much money, and he's not coming down.
Ha oh really? He's already asking for $9 mil from teams he WANTS to go to. That means we'd prolly have to offer him in the neighborhood of $11 to 12 mil a year for him to consider us. Those are ridiculous numbers. No way should he be making as more than our QB who we just broke the bank on. $12 mil a year...that's not practical, even for an NFL franchise.

Just by age difference alone this trade is not that bad. I'm sure with some grooming and what not he can be very effective cover man and he already has a nack for some big hits. Our defensive backfield is shaping up little by little.

If so, how do you like that Smith/Grant-Gandy match ???
I think he'll start for the simple fact that Atlanta doesn't have much depth at the position, but will he get beat alot? Yep, all you have to do is look at last year's footage to figure that out. Good pass rushers gave him fits.

I still want to know what the conditional pick from the Falcons is. If it's performance based & Gandy has a good year, we may have gotten a great trade.

I think Gandy will start. They lost Shaeffer, their old starter, already, and Gandy is the first OT they've picked up, so....

The only problem I had with the Julian Peterson type money was someone paying it to Julian Peterson. Arrington is twice the player Peterson is and stands a FAR better chance of actually playing 16 games.

The tiny fact that Arrington hasn't signed anywhere yet has everything to do with money and nothing to do with location or division. He's going to have to lower his asking price at some point since he can't get any takers since before the start of free agency. I'm all in favor of overbidding the highest team he's been talking to and see what happens.

At the very least, we need to ask and give him the chance to turn us down.

Be careful BMG, I said the exact same thing in an earlier post & the haters came out in full force!

Hating this...hating that. People overuse that "hating" term. Also....people are confusing "hating" with dissent. Just because someone doesn't agree with your point of view, they're automatically branded as "haters".

This guy is asking for $9 mil a year. It's safe to say that it'd cost more than that to get him here. No one is debating that he's a good LB. That's just too much jack for a LB especially when we may be getting A.J. Hawk in the draft(not that i'm necessarily in favor of that either).

Apparently the Saints wouldn't even pay him close to the $9 mil he's asking for since they aren't amongst the listed suitors for his services. Why do we need to fly him all the way down here just so he can tell us "no" to an offer of 7 mil a year??

wqouldn't mind dbrick. you can't argue with two first round tackles as long as they can play in the nfl. i thought brown did real well for us last year as a rookie. if we could get the same from dbrick i would love it

I like the move to get rid of the cap hit from Gandy. He wasn't bad, but he sure was getting old. I don't know if Scott is going to start. I think he is an upgrade over Gleason (though Gleason is the ST Ace). As far as Arrington.....I'd be all for getting the guy, but he is getting a little dinged up and doesn't he want to play for a team running a 3-4 Defense?
