Giants | Team stepping back from Arrington?
Sun, 9 Apr 2006 09:10:24 -0700

Chris Harry, of the Orlando Sentinel, reports the New York Giants reportedly took a step back from free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) last week. They reportedly took a step back when agent Carl Poston threw out numbers in the seven-year, $54 million range, with a signing-bonus demand of $14 million.

Man I was reading the Jags forums a couple of weeks ago and it was no where near those numbers. I guessed he up'd his ante... good luck finding someone to dish out all that dough.

The Postons represent him and not coincidentally Woodson and Ty Law who have yet to sign. They have about priced themselves out of the market and missed the wave of big money that flows out at the start of free agency. Ya gotta wonder both how smart these guys are, not realizing what is happening. Not that they won't get big bucks, but they probably would have gotten more than they will end up with if they accepted market value. Makes me wonder how big their egos are when you think too much of yourself.

its their agents... the postons suck as agents and always ask for way more then anyone is willing to pay.... and not many teams want to deal with them b/c they dont want to waiver on any of their demands... i think now most teams are starting to go in a different direction from their clients and go to other people who are willing to deal.. no matter how good the player is....

What he wants will not equal what he gets. We should still get into the mix. All we have to do is have the highest offer. I'm willing to wager that sitting out next season making nothing isn't an option for him.

Especially after giving back four million to leave Washington.
