A couple of spots of wisdom have been added to this thread. Finally some people who actually saw the team play for 16 games speak up and not someone who read nfl.com stats and started talking out their arse. I like this idea. More than you would ever know.

Grant is a good player, you have to leave trolls to believe whattver they like. My bad ya'll. i'll stop feeding the trolls.

I say keep grant he is a top 10 DE in the league. Ok so last years numbers were not great but he was the one getting all the double teams last year. Besides we will most likely take a DT on the first day of the draft and maybe a good DT will take some preasure off of him

Wow, this thread really took off when I wasn't looking. Here's my thoughts:

1. Grant is probably the most well-rounded DE on the team. Yes, Will Smith is unbelievable in pass rushing situations, but nobody on our team plays the run like Charles Grant. Two years ago, when he got shafted out of the Pro Bowl, he had the most tackles of any DE in the league.
2. Yes, Grant had a bad year, but that's only by the sacks standard. Besides the low sack total, I think that overall he played pretty well. He was playing on an awful team with only one true DT and third-string LBs. He received the majority of double teams, and was still able to fight through a bunch of them to rack up 62 tackles, which by the way was 2 more than Will Smith.
3. The guy brings more than just good run-stopping ability and an impressive pass rush (see 2004 a la 10.5 sacks); he also brings a huge energy boost to a boring defense. He's always out there pumping up the crowd and his teammates. He has a very good motor and never seems to give up on plays. He's also a good player in the locker room from what I hear (HE CALLED OUT AB!!!!!!!).
4. Javon Walker is good, yes. Anybody who thinks otherwise is just foolish. Yes he's just a one-hit wonder now, but the guy does have talent. However, that being said, there's no way in hell he's worthy of being traded straight up for Charles Grant. If Eric Moulds goes for a 5th rounder, than there's no way Walker should be going for a guy who is worth a first-round pick. I would most definitely pass on this trade. Like timay said so intelligently before, if we trade Grant and get Walker, we'd just be opening up a new hole on our team while not acquiring any more help to fill the ones we'd already had.

P.s.- in case anybody is wondering, ESPN.com in association with Scouts, Inc. has Charles Grant listed as the 7th best DE in the NFL.

Well played sir. Well played. All things I have tried to point out to people before about Grant. But even I didn't know about the ESPN rating. Well done.

I'll second that. He is the leader of our defense. And this year should be better than last being a contract year and actually playing at Home.

Very true. I would love to keep Smit hand Grant, and find a #3 WR in FA our later round pick. I actually wouldn't mind Saintsfans veiw on the draft, as long as we get a Top 5 OT from this years draft..... even if its not Birck
