[quote]If we are only looking for a 3rd rounder for Smith.....what value do u think watson has????? I say we get a 9th rounder at best......heh

I was wondering that myself.

I don't think we need Watson now that we have Simmons and Fujita. I would like to see the guy step up and start playing a little better, but for now he wouldn't be a bad #2 guy because he knows the defense and the guys he's playing with. That way if Simmons has trouble picking it up, Watson can sub in every now and then.

I agree that he knows the majority of the guys he's playing with, but he's learning the defense just like everyone else with a new coach and defensive coordinator, thank the Lord. He knew the Haslett/Venturi defensive scheme that was drawn up by Ida Knownothing, a kindergarten student who has a real knack for using crayons. The sad thing is that Venturi and Haslett couldn't understand the simplified gameplan.

So that's why Aaron Brooks couldn't understand the playbook. :D

Check this out.......per Fox Sports

Colby Bockwoldt - #57 - Linebacker - 6'1" - 237lbs
News: Colby Bockwoldt lined up at middle linebacker at Friday's practice.
Impact: Scott Fujita was the WILL and Anthony Simmons was the SAM. Bockwoldt, who has improved in his two seasons, would be a very interesting IDP option in the middle for the Saints. (Thu. Apr 13, 2006)

Fujita, Simmons and Bockwoldt....sounds alright to me. Better than Bockwoldt, Watson and Allen.

hawk, bockwoldt, and simmons sounds MUCH better.

I would like to see Simmons in the middle where he's played before, Hawk and let the rest fight it out over the last spot. I really think even if we don't draft Hawk the linebacking corps will be much improved.

Bockwoldt is awful. I'd much rather have Fujita, Hawk, Simmons.

I'd like to see us keep Watson for detph. Plus I'm really not confident in the way these guys have been coached in the last couple of years. Have you noticed players seem to blossom when they leave the Saints, and New Orleans seems to be where players go to die (Dale Carter, Brian Cox). I don't feel that way anymore. I'm speaking more past tense with this new staff in mind. But I'm interested in what can be done now. I remember Steve Young saying how the Saints where such a dissapointment because of all the talent we had. We know the talent there, but direction and discipline is what we've been lacking.

Good point Savant. I haven't thought of it that way.
