Agreed Pak, we sure can use some offensive help to keep the chains moving. Plus, we need to do better scoring after turnovers and contolling the ball and keeping our D off the field

Good point. the fact that we hardly created any turnovers are bad enough. Whats worse is the fact that we got nothing to show for the few we did get. I have to think the majority of the teams problems were from the offense. No running game, dropped passes, penalties, and some QB that we let go all contributed to our poor team showing. Offense needs a lot of work too.

With the exception of the o-line I think you leave the offense alone. You have all your injured players returning this year and you have one of the worst defenses in nfl history. The entire draft should be used on the defensive side of the ball with one or two exceptions on the Oline. With Duece and Horn coming back you know what you will get from those two if healthy, and if not you have brought in Bennett for Duece. I want to see what Zach Hilton can do with a full season under his belt. I just think TE is the least of this teams worries and would hate to see a pick like that.

OK...i will point out a few key words..."If healthy" and "all of our injured guys coming back". That is a recipe for disaster. Best case scenario, Horn rebounds, Stallworth breaks out, Deuce recovers completely, Brees is a godsend, Hilton emerges. Do you really think that all of those things are going to happen? If 2 of those things happen it would be great. But after Horn and Stallworth, what do we have at WR? After Brees, what do we have at QB? We need at least 2 lineman. Conwell does not warrant the money he makes so i would be surprised to see him last through training camp. I think our offense needs SOME help.

If Duece doesnt recover you have Bennett waiting in the wings. Donte doesnt have to break out as the number 2 reciever the production last year will do for a number 2. Horn is a gamer and will be back. Hilton had 35 catches in 6 starts and showed that he can play. Brees even if hes not fully recovered is an upgrade for that position. I already said one or two lineman. It has been proven that you can with with a decent offense if your defense can stop someone. With Brees, Duece, Bennett, Horn, Stallworth, Hilton, and an offensive line that more than constitutes a decent offense even with someone missing. The defense just has to stop someone. I dont think the offense minus oline needs to be messed with right now.

Yes, when they are all healthy, they make a very good offense. Its depth i am worried about. Henderson, Chris Horn, Lyman, Michael Lewis??? Not many threats there. Hilton, hasnt proven anything to me except that he catches 4 balls and drops 3. Brees' injury isnt something you can play with. If he's not healthy, do you want to see Bouman play? Horn and Stallworth both have injuries in their history. The offense may not be as good as we all think it is.

Your right depth is a concern at WR and QB, and one they should have looked through in free agency. Do you bring in a 5th round pick at wr and expect him to play a role this season? Probably not. A rookie QB in the later rounds and expect him to play this season? No. Those positions are not position you look at in the draft if you need immediate help. They are the hardest positions for rookies to contribute. Hilton played well at the end of the season and deserves a shot. If hes not ready you have Mark Campbell there to cover him. There is enough talent at TE that its not a concern imo. As far as WR you are stuck with what you got at this point in time.

Boogro 04-19-2006 02:29 PM

Well, if you draft a QB late, then he'll probably end up on the practice squad or McPherson will get cut or thrown on the squad himself. It's kind of a waste to draft a QB that late. There is no way we can go into the season with Brees, A-Mac and a rookie QB. As much as I hate Bouman, we need him uless they bring in a quality vet

JimBone 04-19-2006 02:34 PM

Well my point was this, if they addressed WR or QB on the first day, we really couldnt be all that upset. If we took Leinart in the first round ( IT WOULD KILL ME) it would make some kind of sense. If we took Sinorice Moss in the second round, it would make some sense. I am not saying that is what i want, but it would make sense.

It seems we are really thin everywhere and it's scarying the h out of me.
