49ers have 2 1sts
49ers | First-round pick acquired from Broncos
Wed, 19 Apr 2006 09:39:46 -0700 The Denver Broncos have announced the team has acquired a second-round pick (No. 37 overall) and a third-round pick (No. 68) in the 2006 NFL Draft from the San Francisco 49ers. In exchange for the picks, Denver sends San Francisco one of their two first-round picks (No. 22 overall). Interesting[/quote] |
If the Texans don't take Bush, hopefully they give those picks to us for him, plus a treasure or two for next year. Then maybe Hawk falls to us at 6. Me likey.
|
Whodi, do you think the 49ers would want to trade up all that way to get Bush?
|
it gonna cost more then the 2 firsts....
|
Hey pak, at this point, I'd be happy with two firsts....

And I agree with you, if we are gonna get nothing to trade down, i'd take their two firsts, and as I added, some treasure for next year, maybe a two and three. It would be better than getting nothing at all. Plus, if necessary, we could trade back from 22 and get more picks for the second and third round. Or just simply take a very good player right there. It all depends on what we are offered IMO. |
While i am not disagreeing with anyone, i cant understand the 49ers philosophy here. Now all they have are 2 picks on the first day. Why would they give up their first day of the draft to move up to take someone that may or may not be there? This move may have made sense on draft day, but i dont understand it right now. They are far and away the least talented team in the league and you would think they would want to get as many new players as possible. Oh well, so goes the saga of the 49ers.
|
I have to agree with everything you said there. I don't think it makes any sense what the 49ers just did. BUT, if they felt they didn't have enough ammo to get Bush, maybe they are trying to acquire it. Two firsts are worth more than a first, second, and third. But if they aren't trying to move up for a player, I can not understand it at all. That's the only reason I think they may be targeting Bush.
|
maybe its b/c they have so many holes to fill that it doesnt matter how many picks they have it still wouldnt help so they decided to get high picks to get some "better" talent into their roster...taking quality over quantity...
|
Well, it also helps to assure me that we arent the most poorly run franchise in the league. If they do decide to move up again, they have mortgaged this draft and more than likely, their next draft, for one player. Thats unheard of...wait...where have i seen this before?

but Y trade ur 2nd n 3rd for a first if ur just gonna move back again...
|
Thats a lot of hoping to do 10 days before the draft. Thats why i say the deal may have made more sense on draft day...but that is why i dont run an NFL team. Those guys know more than me.

maybe if they dropped like 10 spots... but i dont think they would do that... otherwise they will likely only get at possible 3rd...
|
It also seems Denver has targeted a certain player. I am thinking Davis or Jackson there. Good move for Denver, Stupid for Frisco. Who's their GM these days? Must me Ditka
|
I say hats to both. SF is like us in need of everything DE,OLB,CB,S,TE, trade up 1 spot (100 pts) and they got AJ. stay put and you got Davis. At 22 they might get a shoot at carpenter also. if not OLB Chad Greenway, DeMeco Ryans are all options. LB looks good for years to come. At CB Johnathan Joseph, Kelly Jennings, Richard Marshall, Ashton Youboty probly to pick from. OLB/DE Manny Lawson.
DENVER TRIED TO MOVE UP TO GET DAVIS AND THEY COULD NOT WORK A DEAL TO MOVE UP SO THEY WORKED A DEAL TO MOVE DOWN. JACKSOM MAKES THE MOST SENSE NOW. |
SF can trade with us at 2 and still have at least one pick in each round. the same with denver up to 4. whats so bad about the math here. both improved and covered there butts.

#2 overall - 2600 pts
#6 overall - 1600 pts #22 overall - 780 pts i dunno what their 3rd round n 4th round picks #s are but the best 3rd round pick is worth 265 pts so it would be close... |
I'd do it all but for one reason, that 6 spot. That is the unluckiest spot in the draft.
