What's the impact of picking and keeping Bush?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Lets just hope that the Saints don't keep the #2 overall pick and draft Jay Cutler or Vince Young instead of moving down or drafting Bush. That to me would be something this organization would do....

I am not a big advocate of taking best player available, but Reggie Bush is a different story. He is a different breed of player and he just brings too much to the table to pass on. He would instantly be our change of pace back, our 3rd receiver and our kick returner...he is just a different breed and too hard to pass on unless the Saints can get what they want in picks to move down.

with deuce and bennet having a history of injuries, that makes bush a need. if both deuce and bennett stay healthy then that gives bush sometime to get used to the nfl and we can just use him as a weapon at RB, WR, PR, and KR.

if either one of them get hurt again (atleast a 80% probability) bush can step right in and take over their position.

I'd take him. I was really gunning for Hwk but damn.........it's reggie flippin' bush.
What are we going to get out of a trade for more picks? Some backup linemen and linebackers? I just don't see much being worth it if what we get is #4 and a late first rounder. There are some good players that could be had there but no other Reggie Bushs

hey deuce your boy deuce is fast becoming a haz been. he looks lazy and slow to me the last couple of seasons. he doesn't break tackles and he doesn't have those long runs anymore. now he is comiung off knee surgery too. plus his numbers have gone down every year since he had that 15-1600 season. we don't already have a good running back. we had a good running back

yeah and what if reggie bush gets injured in camp and is out for the season? we still have all those holes on the line and on defense... i'm all for reggie bush being picked at two.... just trade him before the jets pick at 4.... this guy is going to be great, maybe one of the best... but maybe he won't and we have too many needs to limit ourselves pick-wise and money-wise to just reggie bush

well i have said from the beginning that i am for either taking bush or trading down. either one makes me happy.

hey chris if we lived of what if's nothing would get done. you can't tell the future bro. i understand what your saying but there is nothing you can do if that happens and you don't make moves off of what if's.

well what if he becomes the next barry sanders. then what?

round and round we go

then great for him... if you want to win right now, selecting one player won't do that... we'll still have one of the worst defenses in the league... he have to get better overall (throughout every position on the team) rather than at just one major upgrade at one position, which we're good at anyways...

remember ricky? everyone was so friggin' high on him thinking he was the next earl campbell or whatever... well, we traded up to get him, with the reasoning that if we could run the ball then we'll win games... well, our defense remained porous and we didn't win.... remember? same scenario although reggie is much, much better than ricky was...
