What's the impact of picking and keeping Bush?

I was out all evening so I'm just getting the news. I am hoping the Jets realize that it's more important to have Bush succeed Curtis Martin than it is for them to keep the #71 pick. The Saints can do a lot of damage with 4 picks in the 1st 71 including 3 in the 1st 34.

But let's presume that the Jets and the others are going to think that dealings with the Saints is business as usual i.e. pitch a lowball offer and wait for us to capitulate because as I heard quoted in Atlanta Sports Radio this week "Benson is cheap." What happens then?

Well the only logical choice is to pick Bush #2 because frankly at this point he's the only player that worthy of the pick.

Now what?

The Saints have clear needs at LB, Center, tackle, defensive tackle, and in the secondary. Wtihout the extra picks, most of those needs will not be filled.

So what's you opinion of the impact on the team by picking Bush? I know we may have to do it. But I wonder how it'll affect this season. How will Bush be used? How will holes be filled? Will Bush put butts in the seats?

What a day, what a day!

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

RE: What

well im still scared of the saints moving and at the very very least he will sell tickets. this is a win/win situation with him or trading for more picks.

RE: What

Bush will play both ways?

TB/WR/C on offense?
LB/CB/DT on defense?

He doesn't walk on water people.

RE: What

I don't know if we CAN take him. I mean, with Deuce and Bennett, where is this guy going to fit. I would love to see Reggie here, but I just don't know if he fits in. He's got RB, WR, PR, and KR abilities, but do we really need any of those covered? I'm not sure. I still hope we can trade down and get Hawk. But hell, if we couldn't make a reasonable deal, I would like to see Reggie handling the rock in NOLA.

RE: What

you sale tickets by winning not drafting a player... give me wins and you'll get butts in seats.

RE: What

As much as you people think the team "can't" pick him, the FO obviously thinks they can since they've already told Bush's agent that they intend to select him with the #2 pick.

True it could all be extra misinformation and deception, but if it's as "impossible" for us to draft Bush as some people think then there's no way teams will trade with us. What chance do we have of trading the pick if everyone thinks that we will pass him up??? If everyone lowballs us we need to take this kid. If we have him and they still don't want to do it, then we have Reggie Bush and we go in that direction.

It is a feasible situation for Bush to be here in NO. It CAN work, even with Deuce here. If it wasn't possible, don't you think teams would pick up on that and would just not talk to us at all??? Deuce doesn't have an unmovable contract, 50 million or not.

RE: Re: RE: What

its not that they can move ahead of another team who would select him... if he is your man you do what you can to move up and get him... you don't wait for someone else to move up and get him. It doesn't matter if we want him or not.

RE: Re: RE: What

I agree with Deuce on this one. Reggie is not a NEED for the Saints. RB - Got a good one, PR/KR - That's the Beerman's job, WR - We are covered. I hope we trade down and pick up some players that we need. But if the Saints don't....oh well, I guess we have Reggie Bush. It wouldn't be a bad thing.
