What year did Mayes blow his knee out - '87? I was ten then, and don't remember too many of the details.

With the success of today's surgery would it have been more likely that he could've recovered to 100% had it happened today? Was his injury really bad?

I can't remember what happened the following year. Did he come back?

Didn't Mayes retire and then go play with the Seahawks or some such nonsense?
