Dolphins | Turley has impressive day at minicamp
Fri, 5 May 2006 18:12:10 -0700

Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports free agent TE Kyle Turley (Rams) has trimmed to 260 pounds after being well over 300 for most of his career. He looked downright graceful and had perhaps the most impressive day of anyone at the Miami Dolphins minicamp Friday, May 5. As noted earlier, he is trying out for the team

love to see him do well. good luck kyle

Well we all know blocking won't be a problem for him at tightend... but can he catch?

Hey look I like Saban, but who is he Mother Theresa. He tried to save Rickey Williams, and now he is doing the same with little Vick and half as big Turley. I bet anything they both get cut.

The one thing they all have in common is talent. Saban will give a guy a chance if he thinkgs the guy can help him win, but if the guy's a scrub, well...

I'm telling you guys it's not Saban, it's Randy Meuller. Randy Meuller is the king of rehab jobs and washed up NFL talent. He has a pretty good premise, clean the guy up and he might give you a good backup roll or start at a weak position for peanuts so the player doesn't count too bad against the cap. Then, 1 in 20 who actually get there, play a good season until the cocaine and alcohol habits kick back in, but you got a decent player for crack change until you can draft someone good the next year at that position.

I loved Randy Meuller. He made mistakes too but I think the guy will try anybody out. It's the "Beerman" story. What people don't know is we had guys like Dale Carter (remember him) and Joe Horn porking Willie Roaf's wife... that one was so bad Willie Roaf put his baby on TV to show people he looked like him... but I couldn't tell.

I don't know, Halo. I don't think the structure in Miami is such that Mueller is signing guys Saban doesn't want. Saban wanted a lot of control in an NFL job to leave LSU, and Mueller isn't the one calling the shots there when it comes to who's on the Dolphins roster.

While Saban is a big character guy, he'll give a guy with a load of talent a shot if he can keep his nose clean. If you're an LSU fan that follows recruiting/football closely you'll remember the name Tim Pope. He was one of the best LB's coming out of Florida a few years ago. Had a few run ins with the police, but Saban gave him a chance provided he would jump through hoops. Guy was a great athlete and would've been an animal at LB, but he screwed up at LSU and that was it.

Point being, Saban will take a chance on a guy.

I hope that he makes the team. He's definetly athletic enough. He was a hell of a player until Mike Martz screwed him up.
