Bush MRI shows slight hamstring strainBy Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com

Tailback Reggie Bush apprised both his agent and marketing representative on Tuesday that an MRI examination of his left hamstring earlier in the day revealed nothing more than a mild strain and that he should be back on the field for the New Orleans Saints in about a week.

But even with Bush's reassuring prognosis to his camp, delivered via text message, there was no official announcement from Saints officials about the examination. New Orleans executives did not return several messages from ESPN.com as of late Tuesday night. Two members of the New Orleans media said that the Saints declined to acknowledge that Bush underwent the MRI.

Sources close to Bush confirmed, however, that the MRI was conducted on Tuesday morning.

Bush strained the hamstring on Saturday morning, during the first session of a three-day minicamp. He finished the morning practice but then participated only in the walk-through session that preceded the afternoon practice. He spent most of that practice riding a stationery bike and doing some stretching in an attempt to loosen the hamstring.

The former Southern California star and Heisman Trophy winner did not participate fully in any of the other minicamp practices on Sunday and Monday.

"What we wanted to do was make sure it didn't turn into a two- or three-day thing," first-year coach Sean Payton said following the Saturday afternoon practice. "That was the deal. We wanted to be smart."

Bush has never suffered from hamstring problems in the past.
