Rookie Reggie Bush has instructed his agent to avoid a New Orleans Saints training camp holdout at all costs. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said negotiations are in the early stages with Bush.

Drew Brees was out of a sling ahead of schedule, and he had regained the range of motion in his arm in April, a month ahead of what was predicted. Brees is throwing from 80-to-90 passes, 30-yard passes, three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and throwing another 40 on Tuesday and Thursday.

Next week, the NFL's eight-member competition committee will probably recommend that the team owners adopt a more flexible numbering system starting in 2007 ? one that allows running backs and receivers to choose a number from 1 to 49. At least 24 of the league's 32 teams would have to approve a revision.

great, i can see it now......

thousands rush to the stores to purchase their #25 Reggie Bush jersey, only to turn around the following year and purchase another jersey with the #5 on it.

I have a question. Say I wanted to order a Bullocks jersey. Now, I'm pretty sure that they don't keep that in stock, and would have to be specially made. If that is the case, does the player still receive a cut of the profits? What if I spelled Bulllocks with only one L by mistake?

well i do know that certian names cant be used with certian #s... but if u wanted a custom jersey its gonna cost u like 250 bucks...no matter what

How can they stop me? What if my last name is Bush? They don't know. And if NFL.com won't make it, SOMEONE will.

NFL.com probably will. I know they have a list of names they WON'T let you order, like "Mexico" because people tried ordering that in "honor" of Ron Mexico/Michael Vick.

I remember seeing that they had to take "Gay" off that list for Randall Gay.

I dont see the point about the Gay part. If you wanna walk around with Gay on your back, fine with me. But yeah, I remember the Mexico part. I probably won't get a Bush jersey soon, I am gonna try for Karney.

I'll be getting a Brees jersey this year and a Bush jersey next year.

One would think that Bush wouldn't sell as many jerseys this year if he gets #25. He should have more the following year when he's #5 (should things go like we're projecting them to.) This is what I thought, anyways.

One of my friends pointed out to me that the #25 jersey would be a collector's item. In turn, this could be a pretty good marketing ploy.

On a side note, I'm saving my 'Saints 2005 Season Ticket Holder' bumper sticker as a novelty item. It's the first season I've ever purchased season tickets. What irony!

Oh, I wanted to add.. Yeah, at the mini-camp I purchased a black Brees jersey. I already have a Duece jersey, so Bush was going to wait until next year regardless. I'd wear the #25 jersey though, I mean look at it this way, it will be a collectors item possibly. If down the road the younger fans forget about the number system changing, it will be one of those trivia questions, what was Bush's number his rookie season..

It'll be as much a collector's item as the Michael Jordan 45 jersey was. How much does anyone think they could get for that today? $2? The only way it becomes a collector's item is if Bush somehow breaks all kinda records as a rookie. I don't see that, not saying it's impossible, causewith Reggie all is possible, but it will end up just being a waste of money. Not for the league, cause many many people will buy it, but for the average joe who schlepps for it.

With all this jersey talk, have any of y'all taken advantage of the great deal you can get on a #2 Brooks jersey?
