TRAINING CAMP 2

Today started out the same as yesterday. A few minutes of special teams then stretching and sprints.

Offensive and defensive teams were rotated all day long so it was hard to get a feel for who was starting and who wasn't. However it lookrd to me like they were using Alford as the starting left guard next to Brown. Make no mistake, this is a BIG man.

As before the recievers did a good job catching the ball when it was thrown to them, all except for one QB which I shall not name (but his number is........4). Again Brees looked sharp, never threw very long but accurate. Recievers that impressed me were Lyman(broke several, Moore, again caught everything thrown to him and Hass, this kid can catch. All these guys brought cheers from the crowd of about 300 at the camp.

It looked to me like they really want to get a good look at Leisle, he showed so effort today.

The coachs must have been happy about the practice today, there wasn't much yelling. Everything seemed to go smooth.

On another note the first part of practice was dedicated to a deliberate safety, interesting. McAfee had fun.

One other thing,in the 11 0n 11 drill Mason came up with a tipped ball interception that wowed the bleachers. He scooped it off the ground, barely got his hands under it. Hell of an effort.

Had a chance to chat with Mr. Benson,he was his usual happy self,at least his wife smiled.

Thats about it for today, the afternoon session is closed to the public. Next update will be Monday. Have a good weekend and send money! LOL

Thanks for the updates again JoeSam. Can you check out the DT situation for us? I think this has been a very untalked about position throughout the offseason even despite how bad they were last year. Who looks like they're starting, who's playing well, and who's playing like Sully? Thank you sir.

To answer your questions. joey Thomas is doing ok,nothing special but he hasn't done anything to hurt himself either. I think to make this team he's going to have to try harder and get more face time. As for Jason Craft, he befuddles me. one time he looks all world the next play he gets owned. he too will have to do something special to stick.

As for the defensive tackle situation, as I said in another thread, Leisle is getting some time to show his stuff.hollis Thomas has shown well, he looks much better than I could have hoped. Young is working hard and his arms are hugh.I hear Boykin is back and I hope he sticks,I'll have to watch and see what he can do.Villarreal has played some but nothing special.

i hope this answers some of your questions.

Oh by the way, missing from todays practice was Deuce and Joe Horn, Deuce was dressed out but didn't particapate, probably soreness in the knee, I never did see Joe. Deuce yesterday looked good in his cuts and runs.

Did you check out our new singee! He seems to be the player type we need, he has incredible jumping ability and speed...I heard and read from another site that he blocked two of Brees's passes and he put good pressure on the line....
