It appears the Saints will be going with Joe Horn, Devery Henderson, Donte Stallworth, Jamal Jones and Marques Colston as their receiving corps.

Horn and Stallworth started the game, while Jones and Colston lined up with the first team once Horn left the game with a bruised back.

Payton made it clear that he intends for Colston, a seventh-round pick out of Hofstra in the 2006 NFL draft, to play a significant role in the passing game once the season begins.

Jones signed as a free agent during the offseason and has impressed the coaching staff since training camp commenced.

Henderson had been lining up with the first team throughout camp, but caught his only pass in the fourth quarter.

Bethel Johnson displayed flashes of his New England Patriot days returning kick. Johnson's success ended when he coughed up the ball after a 53-yard return in the third quarter.

Things might be worse than that for Johnson as he sprained his medial collateral ligament in his knee.

The trade and ensuing comments made me review some predraft comments on Colston-

This giant wideout turned a lot of heads at the 2006 East-West Shrine Game, he was a man among boys there, and is sure to garner a lot of attention at the NFL Combine. A first-team All-Atlantic 10 selection in 2005, was second in the conference in receiving yards with 975 on a career-best 70 receptions with five touchdowns. He broke the Hofstra career receiving yards record that was formerly held by current Denver Broncos wideout Charlie Adams. The Harrisburg, PA, native finished his four-year career with a school-record 2,834 receiving yards and ranks second on the Hofstra career receptions chart with 182. In 2003, Colston broke Wayne Chrebet's Hofstra record of 245 receiving yards in a single game when he hauled in seven passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns at Liberty.

One NFL scout noted: "Colston plays like a veteran, not an obscure seventh-round pick from football lightweight Hofstra. He made a great double move (against Indy) and then blew up CB Kelvin Hyde. For a big guy, Colston moves so well. No way he doesn't make this team."

Those sentiments were all but echoed by Saints head coach Sean Payton after the Colts game (in which Colston and RB Deuce McAllister were the two major bright spots).

"He's gonna play, all right," Payton told the media. "He's gonna play. He's been doing it all camp. You guys have been there. It hasn't just been one practice, one scrimmage, it's every time he puts the pads on."
