GOTSAINTS.COM insider just informed me that the Edwards deal will be done at the end of the week. The deal my include a 3rd and 4th pick, or a 4th pick and a player. One of these pick will be the one we got from Philly for Donte.

hope not donte is in a go situation and will be signing an extention very soon. phili does like to sign up new players long term. a 3 and a 4 is way to high. kc 4th and a player maybe. our 4 and thats it is okay. he is 33 and has back problems. enough i have ranted on this enough.

RE: Inside source(Edwards)

I really don't like trading a 4th or 3rd for Edwards.

Edwards is not going to come in and drastically change our defense to make us a playoff contender. This year is a rebuilding year, and the most we can hope for is to be competitive, win a few games we shouldn't, and look forward to next years draft/FA.

I've become more impressed with our staff's talent evaluation than I was a month ago. I was disappointed after the draft with some of our picks, but their play in the preseason has shown me I didn't know what I was talking about.

Now, I hate the idea of giving up a 3rd or 4th for an old LB that might have 2 years left. The pick for Stallworth will likely become a 3rd. I was listening to Hebert and Wilkerson last night and they said it was contingent on Stallworth signing there long term. The reasons they gave for that being a likely possibility were that with the Eagles this year he's going to be the #1 WR. They don't have anyone better there, and they're likely to give him the type of contract he wants.

What the staff has shown me is that with that extra 3rd rd pick they're more than able to take a young guy that can come in and play and develop in to a player long term. I'd rather that than a stop gap LB that won't be here very long, and won't win us any playoff games.

Here is the latest from Sports Illustrated:
"The Saints are expected to take the mid-round pick they acquired from the Eagles and go even harder after Chargers veteran linebacker Donnie Edwards, whom New Orleans has been making inquiries about for over the past week."

They also made the following reference to Donte Stallworth's departure:
"Donte Stallworth had not separated himself from his younger competition in the eyes of first-year Saints coach Sean Payton. Payton insisted at the start of training camp that there would be no "fixtures" on his roster, that he would make decisions based on what he saw. He certainly proved that Monday. Stallworth was replaced on the first-team offense by rookie Marques Colston, a seventh-round draft pick."

waste of a good pick, but Pyton may know something we don't. Good character..but 4th round pick is still pretty good!
