Fresh Reggie

I haven't seen a good Reggie thread in a while. Since we are done with preseason how would you sum him up? What surprised you most about him? what are your expectations?

Mine-

He is the real deal- electric! He will be a terror out of the backfield as a receiver.

I knew it but was even more impressed with his toughness. The guy doesn't shy away and hits opponents hard. His hands are better than advetised. A first round receiver even if he wasn't a RB. I am incredibly impressed also with his media relations- the charity stuff is great PR. He knows how to communicate without coming across as an arrogant spoiled athlete. He ain't a jive ass that will be busted for weapons, drugs, or abuse like many of the thugs in the NFL.

Rushing yards I dunno. I am anxious to see more of the variations of him and Deuce in the same backfield. He could be so electrifying that he cannot be kept off the field. There is the line how he isn't a load carrier but he is just as big and strong as Emmitt or Sanders. We'll see. My dream would be that Deuce would have a big year too so that his trade value got back up there. Then we could unload him for positions of need or draft picks and not get creamed capwise. Ideally, with Reggie we could use someone a little lower salary-wise than Deuce. A Brandon Jacobs or Duckett type would be ideal to me.

I think he will have 50-70 catches for 700+ yds.

RE: Fresh Reggie

He should have over 1200 total yards and 7 touchdowns. Pretty good rookie season right there. I think Deuce is going to be the key to our season. If he can get 1350 yards on the ground, we're going to be in a lot of games.

RE: Fresh Reggie

I'm not surprised so much by his willingness to be physical as much as I was surprised that little Pac-Man jones knocked him backwards in the collision.

I think his main problem will just be learning when to take the yards he can and when to try to make a video game run. I think I read an article where he said something to the affect that he needed to work on that.

I think he will pick that up fast when you have fast Derrick Johnson's nailing you. Too bad he can't play aginst our LBs.

to me, rushing is a concern in as far as him going left and reversing field.. i know he did this in college alot and broke many big plays, but if he thinks he'll do it in the nfl, he's got another thing coming..........i agree he'll be the threat as a reciever and look for payton to use this among other things to keep defenses honest...........reggie is a legit threat every time he gets the ball and this brings balance to an otherwise flaw we have on offense. as i said in predict the season opener, i look for drew to break free........if payton tries to keep it conservative, we are in deep sheet................open it up and let the sheet hit the fan...................smitty

I think.......

Reggie reminds me of a different player than my first impression of him. I thougth he ran remarkably like Gale Sayers, however after seeing how physical he is as a runner I think he reminds me of walter Payton! Not sure if anyone else sees this but I didn't know he was as strong as he has shown.

RE: I think.......

I think he has a shot at being great but not in New Orleans. We don't have people to clock for him.

You don't expect Payton to upgrade the OL next year, or in the total 6yrs of Bush's contract?

Huh?

So Deuce will have 1350 on the ground and let's just split the rushing and receiving yards for Bush, shall we?

1950 yards rushing and 600 yards receiving from our RBs if Deuce and Karney don't catch a single pass. I think I'm safe in suggesting that you might be a bit overly optimistic here.
