Porter seen pumping fist, laughing as Brooks is sackedESPN.com news services

When Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss said of his team, "things are crazy around here," he wasn't kidding.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported on its Web site that disgruntled receiver Jerry Porter who was inactive for the 27-0 drugging the Raiders absorbed from the San Diego Chargers on Monday night, was seen laughing and pumping his fist on the sidelines when Raiders teammate Aaron Brooks was sacked for the seventh time.

Porter's role on the team has greatly diminished after he clashed with new coach Art Shell in the offseason over his offseason workout plans. Porter demanded a trade at the start of training camp, but the Raiders have declined to grant his wish.

Porter was slowed by a calf injury early in training camp but was healthy for the final three preseason games and was not listed on the team's injury report leading up to the game. He was on the sideline in street clothes for this game.

"As far as Jerry Porter is concerned, I really don't know where he stands, what the organization has in store for him," Moss told Fox Sports Radio last week. "So the only thing I can do is worry about the guys they're putting on the field."

Porter led the Raiders with 76 catches last season and had 942 yards receiving and five touchdown receptions in 2005.

He has not been listed as a starter all of training camp, even after the Raiders traded starter Doug Gabriel to New England on Sept. 2.

The Associated Press contributed to this story.
Who knew Porter was a Saints fan? I was doing the very same thing at home.

Porter was not alone! I am not one to kick a "dog" when he is down, but I have to admit, I was laughing and hooping it up watching "The Clown". Looks like we have a QB controversy in Oakland. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I didn't think it was at all funny, I mean come on the guy got beat up due to a horrible showing from a so called professional O-line. I though Shell was about to cry in the post game interview.

Everyone blame the OL,rightfully so, but OC should share a little of the blame. What was the guy thinking bout calling 7 steps drop back pass plays over & over again. They need to stick with the run....but all in all they didn't stand a chance against charger's front seven

I agree totally. Not only does Brooks suck big time, the entire team does, as well as the offensive coordinator! Way to go Raiders!

Me too. :D Same old "Smiley" running into the rush. This dude has no pocket presence whatsoever. You can blame the O-line all you want (& they played their part), but Brooks is Brooks & is a master at creating his own sacks.

The one sack that stands out is after the play, Vermeil said that Brooks has to see the rush coming. That was a perfect example of why he gets sacked so much. He held on to the ball way too long, and didn't feel the rush coming from behind. Yes, the OL might be bad, but having a QB who doesn't avoid the rush well, doesn't help one bit. If AB was the QB for the Browns last sunday, he would have gotten sacked more than he did last night, but Frye was able to get out of the pocket and avoid being sacked every other play.

Million dollar arm: Ten Cent brain!!! Brooks is doing to Oakland what he did here. No one realizes that he is a dud in dud's clothing. Coaches fall in love with "potential." But somewhere in there has to be heart and fire. Brooks has none of that. It's gonna be a long season in Oakland. Also, what's happening is that Collins don't look so bad now does he?? But Brooks has GREAT STATS!! HE'S a heckofaplayer, a heckofaplayer.
