I much rather the fact that we got something for him this year than letting him walk next year for nothing. Do I think we may have been able to get more for him? Sure, but our FO isn't exactly "trade gurus".....so, I'm happy we got something in return. We have some good young receivers, one whom I think is a future superstar, so why are we crying over spilled milk?
How is this relevant to ANY part of the conversation? Let me re-hash:
I don't know if you guys get the impression I am unhappy about the trade, cause for the 100x, I am not, not in the least. I am a fan of Donte's though and will always be gald when he is doing well.
Here's the problem, only one person is saying losing Donte was bad or it was a bad trade. Yet people feel like they need to put him down or something just cause someone may wanna see him do well elsewhere. Donte is SHOWING what he can do in a better system. It's unfortunate he never got that chance here, but what we have at receiver currently has proven to be just as good or better.
I again am not as upset over losing donte as sheldogg,
I've tried to make it as plain as I can this has NOTHING to do with being upset over the trade. I am just a fan of Donte. there's no need to make a speech over ONE person who is actually upset is there chump? :P :P

I was the MOST outraged at Howard, Bentley and Smith walking for nothing, so you're preaching to the choir fella. I'd still like some proof from anyone Donte was walking next year. Any proof at all. A statment from Payton, a statement from Donte, a statement from Loomis, ANYTHING.

I think that Donte was going to demand Joe Horn money. Agents usually start pressing the buttons in the year before the contract year to get a guage as to whether the current team's got a desire to re-sign. I don't think that Benson, Loomis or Payton really wanted the burden of 2 top 5 WR salaries so they hustled him off for what they could get for him. Starting the season as a Saint would have diminished his trade value.

Wasn't directed at you there, bud. That was for the dude that started the thread. No need to go into the whole "I love Donte.....you guys stop picking on him" thing. :P

Starting the season as a Saint would have diminished his trade value.
Why is that?

I accept that people feel that way, that's not the issue. I am trying to gauge WHERE that is coming from. Gut reaction, something someone posted, something you read, or just pure speculation from thin air. That's all. I have never once heard Donte mention his contract, so I am trying to see where this is coming from.

Hater. :P You just remember what team you're cheering for when you go to the dome Monday. Don't show up with an Eagles jersey, okay. J/K

Seriously.....I wish Donte all the luck in the world w/ Philly......just not against us. He really is a good ball player if he can just keep his consistency up & stay healthy. Both or ifs he still needs to prove.

Naw, i'll just wear my Donte Saints jersey I had since we drafted him. Had to call Sports Avenue every day for a month to get that thing!!!

But naw, i'll prob pimp the Deuce. I don't like Donte enough to buy an Eagles jersey. He ain't that good.
