Thinking about betting on the Saints for the first time.

The line is the Saints +8.5

Are the oddmakers on crack? You have a Carolina team that was thrashed by the Falcons and beat a Tampa team that's 0-3, not as good as their record, and had a QB that was in surgery after the game.

The pundits seem to believe that this Saints team only won on emotion and won't be prepared to play the Panthers on Sunday. They believe that the Panthers D-line will wreak havoc.

The one thing we all know is that the Saints will be prepared to play. Payton will simply gameplan on the D-line speed rush with dumps and screens to Bush and Deuce, who will absolutely kill the Panthers Defense on the edges. Jake can be put into positions where he'll make mistakes and Foster simply isn't consistent enough to be a legitimate threat.

I'm picking the Saints to win straight up. But with 8.5 points I really thinking about plunking down money.

Thoughts?

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

Last season, I bet every week. Nomrally I bet on the Saints cuz im a homer like that and we went 3-13. I havent made a single bet this year, for one reason or another, either being out of town or what have you and the saints are 3-0. Maybe its karma or something, but I really dont wanna jinx it. Im dieing to put money on this game, but I dont wanna screw the saints.......But the spread is huge this week, and Panthers dont play good against us in Carolina. I say throw some money down, im debating if i am.........

That line scares the crap out of me because they are usually right.

But, given the history of this series and the fact that we have won 5 of the last 6 at Charlotte, you would certainly not be crazy to take the Saints on Sunday. (Obviously alot of folks have since the line has moved from 8.5 to 7 over the last couple of days.)

I never bet on Saints games just cuz I get too wound up as it is. But, if you do, I like the play.

Hell, who's to say we won't win outright?

It's a fact. The minute you place money on them, you've sealed their fate. They either lose, or if they win, don't cover the spread.

I've NEVER won money on the Saints.

Betting on the Saints is like sleeping with your ex-girlfriend. Exciting at first, but afterwards the regret sets in, and you find yourself wondering, "What the hell did I do that for?"

Carolina should be favored but 8.5 is a little bit high. Last year Steve Smith annihilated us and we have to prove that we can contain him. Watching Driver go nuts on the Saints D wasn't a good sign. IMHO that's where the big spread is coming from.

Hammerin' Hank on ESPN said take the Saints and the points.

I'm not sure that that's worth anything...

It should be a rule. Saints fans should never bet on the Saints.

I'm not very superstitious, but, betting on the Saints has an adverse effect on the outcome of the game.

I have personally proven this theory with incredible accuracy.
