Naming rights bought: ALLSTATE SUPERDOME

Well comrades, you just saw the last game in the Louisiana Superdome. I find it ironic that it is Allstate. Plenty of hurricane victims have had to go to court to try and get just compensation from them.

Quote:

Allstate Corp. has struck a deal to become a sponsor of the Superdome, the New Orleans stadium that became a symbol for government incompetence during Hurricane Katrina but that has since reopened for the business of Saints football and other entertainment.

The Northbrook-based insurer, a leading player in an industry criticized for its response after the 2005 storm, said the enclosed dome is the only National Football League venue with which it has a national sponsorship agreement. Better than the Pink Taco Superdome rumor that was floating around I suppose.

"We have a strong college football program," Allstate spokesman Mike Siemienas explained Thursday. But the chance to be a Superdome sponsor "shows commitment not only to the residents of New Orleans but also to our employees and agencies."

Terms of the multiyear agreement, which includes signage, were not disclosed.

The deal complements other Allstate sponsorship activities in the Big Easy. Earlier this year it announced a four-year sponsorship of the Sugar Bowl, one of college football's most prestigious games.

Well, that's not good news.

Those bastards, and all the other ins. copanies, have been crying about how much money they've lost in the past few years. Ivan and Dennis hit us here in FL and you folks to the west had Katrina and Rita.

All the companies have jacked up FL Homeowner's Ins. premiums almost to the point of pricing many people out of the housing market.
And just wait, if they haven't done it yet in LA and MS, they will try.

Given this development with the dome, the state better deny any requests from the company to raise rates in the state. If they have money enough to buy naming rights to a stadium, they sure as hell don't need to increase rates.

Looks like Allstate's stepping up their football efforts. Check out this weekend's college games and count how many Allstate nets go up behind the goalposts in placekicking situations....

Insurance companies will always pull the crap that they pull. At least the name doesn't sound too bad. Getting the stadium named now is good timing - it generates revenue and sends the message that the Superdome and the Saints don't intend on going anywhere.

All of this money goes to Benson. And he can still pull the plug. If I were All-State, I'd have an escrow clause in there that pulls money back if the Saints even sign a contract to move. The more financial penalties to leaving the City, the less chance to do so.

Thank you Allstate for stepping up. Just please treat your constituents with the same commitment.

This is a sick joke, right? There's no way Allstate can possibly think this is a good idea, can they?

And to think, I was glad that the Dome had never given in to any of the corporate naming crap that's been running wild the past 10 years or so.

I'm not gonna ***** alot 'till the uniforms have "Allstate" patches or such. Isn't it the Allstate Sugar Bowl now?

Besides, I can't gripe too much. I'm a huge Nascar fan.

Wow.....now this is total irony. Thats gonna cause some resentment isn't it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't read anywhere in there where it says Allstate bought the naming rights to the Superdome. It just says that they are a sponsor. There's a difference. Coors and Chevrolet both struck deals to sponsor the Saints this week too.
