Tight End Power!!!

We obviously have 3 great tight ends. with Boo, Sloan, and Conwell our team should be much better. David Sloan is so big and powerful, he can just run over tacklers. Boo can run very fast and he is very elusive when it comes to getting away from tacklers. And Ernie Conwell can be played in multiple positions, so I would say we have an awesome tight end group!!!

did you see any saints games last year?

sloan was a huge flop and williams wasn\'t any better

conwell should be a good addition as well as rasby but williams has been rumored to be on the trading block and sloan\'s injury and salary might make him a june 1st casulty, we improved our TE situation as compared to last year but again last year our TE\'s were pure garbage

I must admit, Sloan did drop the ball a lot, Boo made some good catches, I guess your right.

Great tight ends? Come on. Off the top of my head I can\'t remember a single play our tight ends made last year. Slone be gone. As far as Conwell I hope he works out but that remains to be seen. Boo Williams isn\'t a true tight end. Maybe Cam Cleeland will come back.............

Sloan was a disaster last year but if you look at his 7 year career, it was by far his worst ever. He should bounce back and be much better (how could he not).

The Lions game crushed his confidence and haunted him the rest of the year. He\'ll do much better next year.

Williams has now had 2 years to get his weight up and improve blocking. The offense should be 2nd nature now so look for his concentration and productivity to improve. He also knows its this year or never.

Conwell is a stud, and a leader, and a legit weapon. If healthy, watch out, 7 to 9 TD\'s are possible for this guy.

Rasby, Road Paver.

Hilton: practice squad project, but with potential to be an NFL stud.

We are loaded at TE, its no longer an area of concern, at least for a couple of years.

Cam Cleeland come back. You must be joking, he stayed injured at least half the time he was with the Saints.

Conwell should be our #1 TE, Boo Williams isn\'t going to make it as a TE, he\'ll be either traded or waived.

Rasby in a big time blocker and I have heard rumors that the Saints may work him at FB this summer.

Sloan has value as a blocker, but his contract might make him a June 1st cut.

Zack Hilton is a big target that has the hands of a WR. He is better than most give him credit for and if he had a little more blocking skills he would have been drafted.

I see the Saints going into the season with
Conwell, Rasby and Hilton. Unless Sloan agrees to renegotiate his contract.

I seriously see Boo Williams being here for this year. I\'ll be the first to admit he\'s had his opportunities and not made the best of them. He also shows flashes of huge play potential and has the WR knack for getting open. The problem is he lacks concentration. He drops too many easy balls and didn\'t block well enough to be a full time option. I have read though that he has bulked up to 277 lbs and hasn\'t given up much in the quickness. If he has developed some solid blocking techniques and has committed himself in the offseason as mentally as he has physically, he will get one more look from the coaching staff. I believe he will see a truely make or break year in New Orleans this year just because he cap value is insignifigant. David Sloan, as much as I liked him with the Lions, Tweeky was dead on with his comment about the game against his former team. Just because of his salary I think he becomes the odd man now.

I concur with everyone on both Conwell and Rasby. They have value and will both contribute where their strengths are. I like our TE group. It\'s solid with experienced depth, addresses all areas a TE must, although not in the single person package (but not many guys can do that), and having such TE depth opens up alot of possibilities on offense we sh!tcanned last year because no one could step up.

We have too many TEs at the moment. I think we have an excellent group of TEs, but ther are too many on the squad. One will have to go and I think that will be Sloan because of his salary. ;)

This is one of the best dilemmas to have. 4 proven and/or great potential TE\'s. Who do you give up? I\'m just afraid whoever it is will make us pay in some form or fashion. It always does.

Yeah, can you see us cutting Sloan and Carolina getting him to replace Walls. I can see him getting a 10 catch game just to slap us in the face.

Yeah, I have vivid memories of Bobby Hebert and Morten Anderson sticking it to us every chance they got. Sloan is three times better than Boo, but if he is the one cut because of money issues, I hope he goes out of the division. Hopefully the Saints will keep Sloan, because it could be something special.

Sloan did flop - but it was only one year. I hate it that when a guy has a bad year everyone jumps on him. Sammy Knight is another great example. Charlie Clemons too. Both are good players, who, given the right situation can be great.

Sloan is the same way to me. You put Conwell and Sloan in there together and I don\'t know if there is a more talented TE tandem in the league. Throw Boo in the mix and if all come through like they are supposed to, you could have three guys that could start elsewhere.

I\'ll be the first one to admit it is ALL about results - nothing else. I\'m just confused as to how some of you guys can be excited about Brooks, Mitchell, Allen, Ruff, Hodge, Sullivan... etc. etc. etc. b/c of their potential, but bash guys like Sloan and Williams. Yes, they had bad years last year. That could completely change this season and our TE corp could easily be one of our biggest assets.

If McCarthy put the position back in the playbook. He sure removed it mid way through last season. I\'m in agreement on the Sloan issue. I think he\'s too good of a TE to stay in his slump. He played with far worse of a supporting cast in Detroit and exceled. But given the situation we have created around him he does become odd man. I also agree on the issue with Knight and Clemons. It\'s sensible to get excited about unproven players though because every year a new star is born. Not too many 8 year veterans suddenly become superstars, but alot of rookies and second year players become the next perennial pro bowler in comparison.

I wonder if any of our TE\'s can play defense? Oh no!! Wait! Someone just cut another tight end..let\'s go sign him too!! Defense? Who needs defense?

I think the off season concentration on the TE position is a sign that te 2003 offense will feature more 2 TE sets.

It will be difficult for many teams to match up with all the proven offensive weapons the Saints have and Conwell and Sloan (or Boo) on the field at the same time.

Sloan did lay an egg last year against the Lions. that wasn\'t a good outing and he didn\'t seem to get back on track... I wouldn\'t be surprised if he improves from his slide.

David Sloan and Boo Williams laid more eggs than old Mcdonald\'s farm. That being said, Sloan is much better because he can actually block people, I definitely believe he will have good season.
