Bettis may get cut by Steelers...

As a situational back, he may be nice depth if he accepts the reality and accompanying wages that he is not a starter anymore. Are there better alternatives?
I'm not comfortable with Deuce's rap for injury with a fleet of back-ups like Fenderson, Keaton or Banks.

I agree that we need a more solid backup but NOT Bettis. Bettis is one of the most injury prone backs in the league. Further, there\'s a big misconception about how big Deuce is. He\'s big - last year he was supposedly up around 230. If you remember, that\'s how much Ricky weighed last season. And after seeing Deuce absolutely run over a couple of guys at times last year I don\'t really think we need to go out and get Bettis just to be our short yardage back. I would much rather see a really athletic \"project\" kid back there than a guy like Bettis.

Fenderson last season was overcoming an ACL injury, he is a decent backup. The jury is out on Keaton, I can\'t put any faith in a backup from the Bengals. Bettis had a great career, but he has been on a down hill slide for the past 2 seasons.

I agree that he wouldn\'t be a first choice back-up. My thought was, given his injury situations and chance that he will never start anywhere again, he could maintain some of his production in a limited workload situation. June 1st in mind, there may be someone more realistic that comes available, but I would be comfortable that if Deuce had to sit a half, our running game wouldn\'t be as abandoned or ineffective if a veteran such as Bettis took the field as opposed to our current alternatives.

I do like Fenderson over the others. He does run with some intensity and seems to know which direction he is going.

We better have good backups for Deuce. Cuz he\'s gonna get hurt. Trust me boys. I\'m an Ole Miss fan. Seen it happen every year...and it\'ll happen again this year. My guess is around the 10th - 11th game.

id like to see him added to our team just for depth at running back... we dont have much depth and we could also get him on the field as a FB... we all know bettis is a big back and putting him in front of deuce would give the D 2 things to worry about...

I\'m telling you guy\'s, I remember watching Keaton last year in preseason. This kids is going to be good. He was gaining big yards last year for the Bengals(yes the Bengals) and that\'s the point. If he can gain big yards for them when he knew the system, I think if he knows the Saints system he\'ll be good here.

Keeton ran like Tony Dorsett against OUR defense last pre season and the coaches got a big stiffy about him after that game. We\'ll see if he\'s a player this year. Deuce will go down. Count on it people.

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzt..wrong again Gator. I\'m saying he\'ll get hurt because it\'s a fact given past years. Duece\'s football CAREER history proves that.

Just for the record everyone that plays football has a better chance of getting hurt than not getting hurt. Well, starters that is. It\'s never 50/50.

im sorry but just b/c u have a few injuries doesnt mean that u will be injured every year... that just means that u have gotten some bad breaks... also.... even tho deuce has been injured the past few years... he has been a champ and fought through the injury and played solidly through out the whole thing
