RE: Re: RE: Not very impressed with the saints

I'm neither a sunshiner nor a moonshiner. The current record is something to be proud of, but it doesn't mean anything heading into the next game. I'm with papz and fhs, this team's gotta keep the same level of intensity and focus and (for lack of a better term) unpredictability they displayed in the 1st 5 games. You can't slack off in this league because every team has the capability of kicking our butts if we don't (except the Raiders.)

a win is a win and i will take all i can.
If you are not impressed with a team that is 4 and 1 when only a couple of teams are undefeated then you always have the option to jump ship and root for the cowboys or some other flavor of the week.
for me i am impressed by every win we get and will cheer my team on each and every week

I haven't been this impressed about the Saints more than I am now, I saw how Payton put this team together in a fairly short time and his team is now 4-1 which isn't a bad record for any team much less the Saints coming off a 3-13 season .

There are problems with this team -- no doubt -- but the fact is that they are a team that toughens it out -- does not get down or rattled and will play hard to the end -- teams that do that normally have a better than average chance to win games -- plus our offense is really something that is hard to stop over the course of the game. I think our offense is better than Dallas and they put up 24 points.

Here are a couple of things to ponder...

Brees or Bledsoe? If you say the latter, you are smoking way to much dope. See this past weeks two games. One is mobile, one is not. One is skeered in the pocket, one is comfortable there.

T.O or Horn/Colston/Henderson/?? There is no doubt, that his presence caused the Cowgirls issues this past weekend. To much of a headache. Would not give up any of the three for him.

Our O-Line versus Cowboys o-line? No decision here. You see how many times Bledsoe got canned??

Our defense versus Cowboys defense? Sure they have Roy Williams, and sure they have Demarcus Ware....but......Look at the way we have played as to the way their defense has played. Look at the teams we played, and the teams they have played. Sure we may have lost Harper, but Omar will be a better fit than Dallas's second tier safety.

All this said, we should be feeling prepared for the upcoming game against the Eagles. The game is at our place, we have the weapons to compete, and our coaches are equal to theirs. Now let's get out there and kick some Arse. GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st off, let me say unless it's the Oakland Raiders......any team in the NFL can win on any given Sunday. The Saints are 4-1 & leading the NFC South.....bottom line. That said, Philly will be our biggest test thus far. They are one of the NFL's elite teams right now. We can achieve instant credibilty in the league with a win over Philly at home. Hopefully.....we can play an error free game & come away with a win. If we play w/errors & mental mistakes like we did against Tampa, it will be a long day.

You nailed it Gandhi! Wins are nice, but the acid test is coming up this week. I personally, would like to see how they stand up to one of the top tier teams. If we can hold our own against the Eagles (and win it because I bet $50 with an Eagles fan before the season started) NO ONE NOT ON CRACK will argue with this team's legitimacy.

Break out the VooDoo cause the next 4 weeks our boys are going to need some serious ju-ju!

Based on what happened to the Cowboys - on the road - we can even make several mistakes and still be in the ballgame with Philly. Bledsoe threw three terrible interceptions and missed a lot of open receivers. Don't be lulled into the fantasy he was pressured too much, he had plenty of time to make downfield passes.

... it is week 5... but there're only 16 games to a season. Just about 1/3 of the season has gone by,

Heck, are the Eagles "for real"? They were 6-10 last year -oh yeah, that was T.O.'s fault. One guy not even in the State of Pennsylvania, sure... - This year, they have the same record as the Saints, and they have beaten the Texans (1-4), the whiners (1-4), the Packers (1-4), and the Cowboys (2-2), all while squandering a 20-some point lead AT HOME against the Giants (2-2).

... look, the Saints may or may not beat Philly, but that will not determine if the Saints are "for real" or not. Beating any one team in the NFL does not make any team "for real". ... sure a lot of things can go wrong the last 11 games, like injuries, arrests, team in-fighting, other teams figuring out the playbook while the coaching staff doesn't adjust, etc. etc. etc. But for the time being, winning ugly or winning pretty, the Saints are 4-1, leading the division, and sure as hell look to have a much better foundation than any Saints team ever had after a coaching staff change and such a high player turnover at starting positions. And that's for real.
