Keyuo Craver??

Ok, fine, we can open discussion on his past two years. In 2001 with the Patriots, he had 49 tackles (37 solo, 12 assists), 0 sacks, 0 forced fumbles, and 0 interceptions. If you think that the Saints brought him in here for his mad skills, you are sorely mistaken. He was brought in for his experience, and was given a roster spot for it, and only it.
I\'m not trying to say that speed is not important- it is. But I don\'t think you put enough value in experience. You\'ve got players like Kevin Garrett who runs a 4.33/40 and Rhett Nelson who runs a 4.35/40. You going to take these two over a Deltha O\'Neal (4.55/40) or a Fred Smoot (4.5/40) simply because they are faster?

The waiting drove me mad....

Black and Blue....Speed vs. Experience. If you have speed you can get the experience. If you have experience you cannot get the speed. Do you agree? I\'m going to assume you will say yes, so let me finish this out. If I have a choice to take an experienced player who has lost a step or take a guy with speed and potential i\'ll take speed every time. Remember, speed kills.

I\'ll agree with you there, as up until now, I have not seen a reference towards \"with potential\" anywhere else in your posts...wait...nope, not there, save for the very first post. But since that post you have clearly stated that you would take speed over experience.
Craver has potential, but again, I\'d make him earn that starting job. If he turns out to be better than Ambrose or Carter, great, we are a much better team. But I\'m not ready to hand him the starting position based on his speed alone and the fact that he has potential. Some scouts say Garrett has potential, but that is one of those words that are used quite often that have no definitive meaning. I have a strong right arm and made very few, if any, errors on the baseball field- so it would be safe to say that I had potential- potential to play college ball, which never happened.

The waiting drove me mad....

4.7/40, but that was in high school. And we all know speed is not that relevant to baseball.

O.K.>B&B...you made some very good points. Nothing can take the place of experience, not even speed. Both are very important. I just wanted to bring out the best in ya.

There is no way possible that Keyou Craver will beat out Carter, Ambrose, or even Thomas for that matter. Experience matters for a cornerback, if he doesn\'t know which way to force the reciever it can be ugly. Also, Darrell Green proved that a cornerback can play in this league for a very long time, he played for 21 years.

Darrell Green was still one of the fastest players in the league and he was not a starter. Name the five best CB\'s in this league: Woodson, Madison, Bailey, McAllister, Vincent. They are all under thirty expect Vincent. All have been starters since day one and all are pretty fast, Vincent is definitly the slowest out of this group. This shows one thing, CB is more of an instinctional position. Being able to read the upcoming play, knowing the opposing offense and making sure you tackle correctly are essentials for LB\'s. That is why experience is a must there. Running a 4.4/40 sucks if you have to cross the field because you blew the play and then try to make a tackle. Running a 4.4/40 with another guy that runs a 4.4/40 is an essential, not an option. Carter and Ambrose will do great in short-passing situations. But when Price and other fast WR run past them all the tricks in the world will not allow them to catch them. Just an opinion, I believe we are waiting next to get a CB and a LB, the market and draft should be flooded with them.
