Coach Peyton

I have never seen the Saints actually coached this way. We have a real team leader. His play calling really throws defenses off. He utilizes everyone's talent. He doesn't seem like he has a favorite. If you screw up doing the least little thing, he is in your face. It looks like all the players really respect him. If we stay healthy, we have a good chance at playoffs.

First time poster from Austin, TX, who watched Drew Brees play many high school games and became a fan of his heady play, competitiveness and accuracy. As everyone here probably knows by now, he wasn't recruited by the Texas college football powers and has had to prove himself every step of the way. I became a Saints fan the minute he signed and am enjoying watching the Saints and Brees slowly but surely earning respect.

I'll admit I didn't follow the Saints in the past, but I watched the game against the Falcons and agree with FWorth Saint about Payton's strong coaching and the apparent respect of the players for him. The Saints don't appear to have the explosiveness to dominate any teams, but I am pleasantly surprised by their resilency. Geaux Saints!

afams, welcome.

I think you're right, we don't have a dominating team, but we'll be in every game to the end. Given the chance, we'll win too.

Payton is a brilliant coach and is doing everything in his power to ensure we stay in games. Good game planning, good player preperation, good player evaluation.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that the team's character has as much to do with the acquisitions that took place due to Peyton's being hired. The DC, Thomas, couple other coaches that followed Peyton from Dallas. Here's a guy who's not willing to piecemeal his staff and team around what was available when he arrived. He brought and hired guys he knew and liked. Though I wish he would've left Stoutmire the hell alone...

I have man crush on Peyton. There I admitted it.

Madmarsha 10-15-2006 09:34 PM

I have a girl crush on Payton and I finally confessed it to my husband today. I doubt it's for the exact same reasons as yours, RedNek; but since you admitted it, I thought I'd confess to everyone here, too!

I can't imagine anyone being down with his ridiculous hair cut though...

Madmarsha 10-15-2006 09:51 PM

All right, of all stupid things to post of all nights, this is going to be right up there but since we're temporarily sidetracked, it has nothing to do with his haircut or even anything physical about him. I don't know what it is. Maybe because his boyish exterior belies the mettle we all know he's really made of. If you really look at him full body, his clothes almost swallow him but he obviously has the utmost respect of these guys that could snap him like a twig. That's (OMG I can't believe I'm about to say this) sexy.

OK, not THAT kind of crush here.
