Excuses, Excuses, Excuses

More crap from Dr. Z, sports idiot:
When the Saints beat the Browns and Packers, it was because those teams were bad. When they beat the Falcons, it was because they were on an emotional high. And now that the Saints have beaten the Eagles, it is because they were at home.

This is his response to a point made by Jeff of Broussard, La.
1) Saints should be higher.
Answer -- let them beat a good team on the road. Cleveland and Green Bay gave them trouble. Carolina beat them.

You can hardly blame those who question the Saints success this season. The Saints franchise has been, for the most part, one pitiful friggin' sight. Its gonna take a little more to convince folks we've turned a corner.

We dug the hole. Don't blame the media.

Food for thought, homers.

Yeah, I agree. Since leaving New Orleans, I've lived in Phoenix, Philadelphia, and Virginia. The Saints are still the favorite whipping boys of sport media everywhere. I mean, come on! How do we get pick by SI as the worst franchise in history over the Clippers and Expos? Anything short of back-to-back Superbowl victories will have our doubters saying, "See, I told you it was a fluke." Yet teams like Carolina, Philadelphia, & Minnisota continually get praised for their chances at sucess despite how badly they choked the year before . If I'm going to look for the media to give us some respect, I might as well play the lottery while I'm at it.

If the Saints won the SuperBowl this year, Dr. Z would probably say that the only reason was because the Saints felt obligated, perhaps even empowered by the fans and the city. Give me a break, the guy is an idiot. Let him bash the Saints, he'll run out of B.S. one of the days....maybe.

i dont think you guys imagine how bad the Saints franchise is percieved by media outlets outside of this city...its not spoken highly of in this state, but it is much worse in other cities...and until the Saints put together a couple of good seasons in a row, why would they change their mind? 6 games isnt going to do it...we have to prove it over a length of time. But we are certainly headed in the right direction.

It will take a little more for me too.
Don't get me wrong.
I am LOVING this totally unexpected gift that my team has bestowed upon me.
Likewise, I won't freak if they hit a bad patch or two along the way either.
