hagan, who do we cut to put these players on the roster or PS? Most likely the Beerman will be cut because there is NO ROOM at the INN for him.

BTW; keep those post coming, I, for one, enjoy those pearls you find in the myrid of oysters out there!

You can never stop looking for better players who might improve the team even though we are doing quite well. Keep the posts coming , I enjoy reading them.

Speegle: I like the read up on this guy... but there has got to be more to the story???

Sounds like we could use this guy anywheres until he fits in. Get him on Special Teams.

Rod Davis was the only linebacker who had any success at stopping LT2 during his senior year.

look at our depth chart and you will see we are a little low on DE. Nick would be a nice project on the practice squad.

LB Akbar Gbaja-Biamila
http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/399851
signed a two-year contract Tuesday with the San Diego Chargers, who made room on the roster by waiving linebacker Nick Speegle. Gbaja-Biamila had signed with San Diego in January, but was released on Sept. 2. He played for San Diego State.

Browns Team Report

PERSONNEL ANALYSIS:Even though the Browns will draft at least one linebacker, possibly in the first two rounds, it will be a big help if Nick Speegle continues to develop. Speegle was the only 2005 Day 2 pick to offer any immediate help, and though that was almost exclusively on special teams, the 6-6, 250-pounder also seemed to have the head to become a member of the linebacker rotation. With Kenard Lang likely to depart, there should be an opening behind Chaun Thompson and Matt Stewart. Even if a free agent is added, which is a strong possibility, there still will be plenty of room in Crennel's 3-4 scheme. He likes a deep rotation, provided backups prove they are worthy of playing time. Speegle offers a serviceable mix of size, athleticism and smarts. He could be a late bloomer, having grown up in New Mexico a bit short on confidence. . . .

RE: Re: RE: waiver watch

LB: Andra Davis is the heart and soul of the defense and should be even better with Washington sucking up two blockers. Kamerion Wimbley has impressed and could end up starting at OLB. Vet Willie McGinest will provide leadership and solid play at the other OLB. The other ILB spot is still uncertain. Rookie D'Qwell Jackson has looked good at times will fight for time with holdover Matt Sterwart. Chaun Thompson could be the odd man out, but if he stays provides nice speed at the spot. Second year LB David McMillan should provide a good pass rush when he gets on the field, along with rookie Leon Williams. Mason Unck and Nick Speegle will mostly play on special teams if they make the cut.

looks like a numbers thing.

LB Nick Speegle: Our beloved special teams player is gone. Again, not a surprise due to our surplus of linebackers.

RE: Re: RE: waiver watch

been reading chargers and Browns sites and nothing negative about him.
San Diego sounds to be knowing the system verse not knowing and them needing OLB ASAP.
Cleveland was about numbers, the good draft and free agents knocking him of the the team not his play,
one quote sounded good to me was:
Slick

I am surprised at Baba. Knew Lee was going to go, but it's still a shame to have to outright cut him. The one that makes me saddest is Speegle - I was hoping this guy would be a stud when we drafted him. He played a game on a broken leg - how can you note root for a guy like that?

Good luck guys!

ChargerDawg
Speegle is a bit of a tough pill to swollow.

But.. When you draft 3 LB's in the first 4 rounds, it is going to create problems. McMillian showed more potential and Unck was a ST selection.

Texans | D. Johnson released
Fri, 3 Nov 2006 19:48:24 -0800

HoustonTexans.com reports Houston Texans CB Derrick Johnson has been released from the team.
http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/20...son_derrick_cb
ANALYSIS
Positives: Aggressive hitter who has a quick change of direction and quickly digests the plays … Plants and drives sharply, mirroring the receiver's moves down the sidelines … Shows fluid hip movement in transition and a sharp closing burst … Smooth in his backpedal … Has natural movements when turning on the ball, getting his head around properly while flipping his hips … Shows good anticipation dropping off in the zone … Generally gets a piece of the ball while consistently keeping his hands in the receiver's face … Gets fine elevation going up for the ball … Redirects with little wasted movements … Uses his hands well to keep blockers off his feet … Effective kickoff returner who makes decisive moves through the wedge and patiently waits for blocks to develop … Has an explosive burst through the holes and incredible balance with fluid hip swerve to elude defenders on his return efforts.
Negatives: Gets sloppy at times as an open field tackler, lunging at the receiver … Tends to drop his head before delivering the hit, causing him to lose the power needed to bring ball carriers down in run support … Lacks ideal leaping ability, causing problems covering the larger receivers down the sidelines.
