Coach Payton

I think it is really time to give Coach P some props. The first year coach has not only led his team to a 6-2 start, but he has earned the respect and gratitude of thousands of people in the sports world.

He found a way to get Brees, worked some magic and brought in 3 new LB's that have done a pretty good job considering the circustances. He has defied draft day speculation and drafted Bush, Strief, Colston and Harper. Some of these guys were considered "reaches" but all have defined the Saints team.

Yes, I know. Bush isn't putting up the numbers he "should" (there are thousands of arguements there), and Harper is out (after a great first few games), but this team is better than good right now.

Coach P is the definately hard core and has completely turned this team around. His "no none sense" attitude and management style is bar none, the best of any coach on any team under the circumstances. He's turned the Saints from less than pretenders and made them contenders.

Just wanted to give this guy a shout, he's earned it. Thanks Coach P.

i think he's definitely up there to garner coach of the year nods.... lovie smith, tony dungy, and coach payton have to be the odds on favorites thus far

RE: Coach Payton

Bush isn't putting numbers up he should??? by whose standards? I don't think that is a fair statement at all. Although you can say Colston isn't putting up the numbers he should either for a rookie WR drafted late 7th round. He's only going to be Rookie of the Year. Even I have to cut Bush some slack but I am not like everyone who came out and thought bush was the savior for alll that is wrong with the Saints. We still have some work to do on that O-line before Bush can really be great. But you will have to give credit to the line then and not just Bush.

I don't even know what the hell I am talking about anymore...

Payton is definately making his legend, this year...

RE: Coach Payton

i don't know euphoria.... deuce has had a couple of good games and brees sure is lighting it up... bush, not so much.... he's a rookie and is still making the transition to a running back in the nfl rather than a running back in the pac10, but -5 rushing yds. yesterday is pretty pathetic.... i felt embarassed for him, which is pretty bad...

RE: Coach Payton

Euph,
I said that Reggie Bush isn't putting up the numbers that he "should"......I was trying to say that he isn't putting up the numbers that a lot of people think he should be putting up. I don't have a problem with what he is doing at all. I wish he could break out a little, but I believe he is a much bigger factor in this offense than what is on the stat tracker. I have no problem with how Coach P is using him. I've said it before, I think he is due for a big game soon.

coah of the year is more of a comeback type of award...given to coach who did not do well the year before or had no expectation of doing so. Dungy and Smith both made a playoff run last year and were expected to do so again this year therefore i think Peyton is a shoe-in for it if he continues and takes this team into the playoffs.

Sean Salisbury said tonight on ESPN that he predicts bush to score a passing and rushing TD in the same game very soon because he is the real deal and peyton is doing a phenominal job of creating ways to get bush the ball...its just a matter of time before it clicks and he starts to dominate.

Coach of the year is not a comeback award...

Its simply the best coach of the year award.

Who did the better job that year period... they use many factors but its not a comeback award or it would be "Comeback Coach of the Year Award".
