All this talk of (expected) home field advantage in the playoffs is nice and all, but don't any of you think that we are demanding too much out of these guys? If this was our 2nd or 3rd straight winning season I could see the demand. Yes, I agree that this is not the same 3-13 team from last year. No, I am not saying they can't win it all (which would be a dream come true for us all), or that we should settle for a .500 club.

But don't you think we need to be greatful for every win after the TB win? I for one am delighted not to be one of the 2-6 or even 4-4 teams.

If these guys make it to the first round and lose, will you be proud of what they did?

As for me...YOUR DAMN RIGHT I WILL BE!

Nope. After 8 games this team has shown who they are. What they've proven is that while they may drop a game here and there, most of the time they are focused and confident.

12-4 may possibly the record of the #1 in the NFC this year. In fact there are only 4 teams in the NFC with records above .500.

Agreed. However, we're in position for a great strech run. Also some of the powerhouses that were supposed to be on the schedule have fallen off. Finally the Saints have shown that it take nearly flawless defense to defeat them. There are 3 or maybe 4 teams that have a defense that capable (Pittsburg, Dallas, NY, Carolina) and each needs both an excellent performance coupled with their offenses clicking to pull it off.
2-2 is an expected outcome, 3-1 isn't out of the question.

The other 4 teams don't seem to have the defense to compete. The Saints offense has shown to steamroll average defenses. In fact they actually showed pretty well against Baltimore (The #3 defense in the NFL) after giving up the 5 turnovers and a ton of points.

If these guys make it to the first round and lose, will you be proud of what they did?

Right now there are really only 3 teams vying for 2 byes in the NFC. The Saints are in the driver's seat for the #2 seed no matter what happens to New York (because we play them) or Chicago. If the Giants win on Sunday against the Bears, we'd be in the drivers seat for #1.

We need to run our race and take care of our business. We pull that off, and no worries about the 1st round of the playoffs because we won't be there. We'll be sitting home prepping for a home playoff game in the 2nd round.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

RE: Re: Don

Nicely put.

For many, the lowly goals of 3-6 wins have been meet (which was understandable). But as stated above, we've shown what we're capable of and we need to start raising the bar for what we want to accomplish this year. Sure if the season ended and we finished 9-7 w/o a playoff berth, it still would be a great year for the franchise considering how poorly we played last year. All I know is we're in great shape right now and the sky is the limit. As good as our offense has been, I think it can be THAT much better. As long as our defense stays solid, it doesn't have to be spectacular... than .

We deserve this...

I agree. Let's just take them one game at a time and enjoy the ride.

RE: Re: Don

i'm all for enjoying the ride, but we do have to worry about the big picture... the saints are playing each week with the momentum from the previous weeks (probably why they came out and laid an egg after the bye) and if we have a bye for the 1st rd, that may not be the best thing.... the homefield advantage will be big this year, b/c of who's in first... chicago and new york are brutal places in the winter, so any football teams not accustomed to cold weather may have trouble performing well there.... i just think that our best bet is to try to get home field throughout.... if we can, esp. w/ our "12th man", we'll be in better shape than if we have to travel for even just 1 game...

RE: Re: RE: Re: Don

Like I said at the begining of this post..DON'T GET ME WRONG..

I am absolutely thrilled with thier record, and do hope and pray it continues. Trust me guys I am all for a BLACK AND GOLD SUPERBOWL! I just think some of the folks here thought all was lost after the Baltimore loss and were just a bit too hard on the team. No, they did not play good; but, they did rebound at Tampa. Just don't want to read a bunch of "This team sucks; Same ole' sorry @ss Saints", if.....I say again...IF they don't make it to the SuperBowl and win.

I, like many of you, have waited and waited and waited for THIS TEAM to give us a SB win. I just want to soak in what they are doing now. If you expect perfection, trust me, you will be disappointed.

We do have a Championship team. No doubt! For the first time this team has the tools and people to win a SuperBowl. I not stupid, my heart see's them winning the SuperBowl, but my brain says, just enjoy each game. Yes, It will suck if they don't win another game and I will be a little pi$$ed, but it still won't make me dissapointed or stop rooting for them.

Playoffs...NFC Championship Game and the SuperBowl...will ALL, be extra GRAVY.

PILE IT ON!
