Just looking for opinions on what player you think is the one we let slip through the cracks by mistake. Who do you think was the player that went on to thrive the most in the NFL after being dumped by the Saints? Not a traded player because that recieved value in return, but a waived, released, or not resigned player.

Depending on how Marc Bulger's future pans out he could make this list.

I\'d have to agree with you there Lumm. If he keeps up his play he\'d be it. I was thinking also about Chuck Muncie and Tony Gailbreath, I\'m almost sure one of them got cut and not traded. But maybe i\'m wrong.

Muncie was definitely traded. Galbreath went to Minnesota, but I also can\'t remember how. I\'d have to say traded because he was well over 50 receptions his last year in NO. I remember he was near 10 yards per catch and near 4 yards per carry as well.

How about Morton Andersen? He was just not resigned right?

Morten Anderson - in his prime, yeah, he was definitely a great. But I think he was ready to go when he finally went.

If I remember right, he was simply cut (1995?), then picked up by the Falcons. He went to the Superbowl with them, and missed a couple short easy field goals in that game.

No, I think letting him go when we did made sense - he commanded a huge salary, and paired with that didn\'t have the leg anymore. You\'d never see him kicking it out of the end zone, not like he used to.

What I know about him now, he lives in Georgia, has a really good reputation up here. A couple of buddies of mine say he\'s the nicest guy in the world. But I met him once, one night when I used to bartend at Igor\'s on St. Charles. The only thing I remember about him is that he walked out on his (huge) tab, didn\'t pay, didn\'t tip. He was kinda pissy with us that night. Pissed us all off after we\'d already comp\'ed a few drinks for him, us being fans and all.

Editing...
I looked it up, yeah, he was cu, they needed $ to make room for Mark Fields.

You positive he was cut? I coulda swore that his contract expired and the Saints chose not to re-up it, thus leaving him a free agent. But regardless, Anderson would be my pick. Ask me again in a few years and we\'ll see about Bulger.

Not %100 certain. I found references to it in two places, but both were unofficial. Both said cut, both said Saints needed 5 million to sign Mark Fields. They could be wrong. I couldn\'t find anything from an official site.

How about Mel Gray?

We took him in the 1984 draft, he played in the USFL until 1986 and we let him walk as an unconditional FA in 1988 to Detroit where he became a multiple pro bowler and ranks on alot of people\'s dream team list as a punt returner.

I\'m 100% certain that Wes Chandler was traded. But you are right that he lit it up after he left.

Lorenzo Neal is a player that was not resigned back1997. He is one of the best fullbacks in football now.
