Rub some dirt on it, it will be ok

A win would be huge, not a must win but a big one. It would guarantee us not to have a losing season, it would put us in great position for a playoff spot and it would start a winning streak that we need going into Dallas and on to the playoffs. I can't think of a playoff season were we finished the season on a strong note. Even the year we won in the first round. We lost to St. Louis the week proir. I guess thats why we have lost in the first round the few times we have made it to the post season.

Tight end Ernie Conwell was placed on injured reserve Wednesday. He made a return to the lineup Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons after being inactive for the previous four weeks.

Payton said Conwell's knee injury hasn't healed as quickly as he thought it would.

Defensive end Will Smith (knee), linebacker Mark Simoneau (hand), Horn (groin) and Colston (ankle) didn't practice in the team portion Wednesday and all will be questionable for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Colston ran routes during team drills, but did so gingerly.

"I'm starting to realize it's a process," Colston said. "It's not going to get better over night. It's kind of lingering around."

Smith spent practice on a stationary bike and Simoneau had his left arm in a sling with a fractured hand. Smith said he would have practiced but the team wanted to be safe and he expects to play. Simoneau didn't reveal any information on the extent of his injury when asked.

Saints have signed Trevor Johnson, DE away from the Jets to take Conwell's spot on the active roster...I think this is in response to Big Will's injury and not enough confidence in what we had on the practice squad to move up...I wish Ninko had not gotten hurt...I guarentee if one of our DE's had gotten seriously hurt and Ninko had to step in for the last half of the season he would have made an argument for Defensive ROY...

Trevor Johnson is in his second year and was a 7th round pick by the Jets
