49`ers @ Saints matchup

ok, I`m not one of the stat gurus , but here is some interesting numbers the 49`ers are bringing to the Dome sunday;

*S.F. 1-4 on the road
$ Saints 3-2 @ home
(they suck on the road, we suck less @home)

* S.F. total points score 199, 18/game ave.
$ Saints total points 276, 25/game ave.

* S.F. doesn`t have a strong air game, RB Gore ave. 5.6/ carry and is the obvious focus on offense. TE Johson is out w/knee replaced by rookie V.Davis (I predict SF will try to improve A. Smith`s passing numbers this sunday when they discover 3 handoffs will not net 10 yards consistently)
$ Saints defense have given up some huge hunks on the ground, but nobody has slammed the ball down our throats consistently on the ground with back to back 7,8,10 yd gains.

*S.F. has a couple of defensive standouts;OLB Moore has 5.5 saks, CB Harris has 6 INT`s. SF`s pass defense is vulnerable, their run-stop is average but they`ve given up a hunk thru the air.
$ Saints Drew Brees, nuff said.

Summary ; Smart football with no turnovers = W for the Saints
(why am i getting an ill feeling about this game?.. hopefully its just Montana flashbacks)

I feel that the Saints will put about 30 points on them, if not more, this game will be over by the 3rd QTR.
Bush will have his biggest game since becoming a Saint and Deuce will score 2-3 Td's IMHO

Gandhi..... if that TE you are reffering to is Johnson, well he`ll be watching this game because he`s out with a knee injury.

If Bellamy's starting at SS, I'll feel a lot better about our perimeter run contain.

If I may speak for Ghandi, he's Talking about Vernon Davis. Davis returned from injury last week and is the fastest TE ever.

Davis looked pretty good at the start of the season, if not for his injury his stats would look much better, he's a rookie and will make mistakes, sure hope he makes a few come Sunday..
In my aucoin draft this year I drafted him being I needed a TE but dropped him when he got injured...

here's some scary numbers............

In fact, the yardage totals don't often go hand in hand with victories. Four of Brees' biggest passing games came in the Saints' four losses (510 yards against Cincinnati, 398 yards at Pittsburgh, 383 yards against Baltimore and 349 yards at Carolina).

and here's some very scary numbers.............

FRANK GORE

Gore has rushed for 1,117 yards, ranking second in the NFL and first in the NFC. Gore, 5 feet 9, 215 pounds, is a punishing runner who could cause the Saints' spotty run defense trouble.

Gore is on pace to rush for 1,712 yards, which, if attained, would be the highest total in the Niners' 60-year history.

and here's some good numbers............................

There's no reason to expect Brees to slow down any time soon. The 49ers come into the Superdome with the league's 25th-ranked passing defense, allowing 221.5 yards per game.

and here's some very good numbers...........................

Brees also is good at getting the ball to his receivers quickly. The Saints rank second in the NFL with only 13 sacks allowed, even though they also rank second in the NFL with 415 pass attempts

summary.........

they absolutely need this win...........
they can no longer lose to mediocre teams down the stretch
and hope to make the playoffs....
they put atlanta away last week as they should have, and
need to put san fran away as well........
we need to be on top when we face dallas next week
cause that's the one that'll put separation between the better team.
the nod goes to the saints to keep the lead in the nfc south...smitty
